As I mentioned in the art post, I worked on this piece on the iPad in procreate mostly while traveling. I'll admit that it has been quite a while since I did any serious drawing or painting on the iPad. My old iPad was an iPad mini, which I love for how portable it is and it works great for making little sketches, but it's capabilities are more and more restricted the older it gets.
After all these years, I finally decided to upgrade to a new iPad Pro and Apple Pencil 2. I'm really glad I did! It feels different from working at my normal workstation at home with my computer, and large-screen tablet, so it has taken some getting used to. Some things still feel a bit restricted in comparison, but it worked out very well for painting while I waited for delayed flights and was on long plane rides.
I think a turning point in the process for this piece was when I felt more familiar with some of the textured rake-like brushes and I allowed myself to kind of embrace a bit of messiness. Early on, I felt a bit restricted and tight because of the smaller screen than I usually draw on, but once I consciously decided, "it's okay, it doesn't have to be clean. In fact, it's cooler if it is kinda messy and gritty", things began to flow a bit easier and the pieces started to come together.
Anyhoo, I hope you like the piece! Happy watching my loves!
