There are many different types of handheld arms on Equis. In the last century, through to the Fourth Energetics Revolution, energy weapons have appeared along with the old and reliable firearms.
Most energy weapons create a laser beam that heats up and ionizes gas (i.e. air) in its path and turns it into a directed stream or bolt of plasma. The main damaging effects include thermal shock and electrical shock. Energy weapons have different power range and can be both lethal and non-lethal.
