A Belly full of wine and an update

Hi there, fellows!

(above is a screencap of the guy from the preview I published before, when he's landed in a belly full of wine)

Sorry (again) for the lack of updates. I haven't been feeling too well lately, but that hasn't prevented me from working. From now on, I'm always going to do a weekly update, every Sunday or Monday, telling you what I've done the past week, to keep you in the loop.

With "Drunken", I've realized that I've made some mistakes and I intend to learn from them. I decided to go with too advanced lighting from the start, resulting in very long render times, and when I noticed that it wasn't really viable for the whole project, I had come to far to go back. I've therefore decided to change and move some scenes to shorten render times so that I can finish, but I've still got quite a bit to go before it's done. There are some scenes, like one of the girls dancing with a belly full of tines, that I really want to get in there...

Now, my question to you: do you want to get previews of what I've done during production or would that spoil it? Should I maybe release the animation in snippets for you and then stitch it together for a final release at the end? Please give me your thought.

Cheers guys, and thanks for the continued support!

Comments

True! I can post them under "spoilers".

TheWiking2000

That's fair. I will start with weekly updates from now on.

TheWiking2000

Thanks :)

TheWiking2000

It wouldn't risk quality in any way. I'd just render out some scenes that are done from a major project file. At the end, I'll render out the entire thing from the same file

TheWiking2000

Aight, seems that most are on that track.

Thanks, Riddick!

I'm that kind of guy that just want to see the full version at first glance, but a simple SPOILER ALERT would do the job. Just don't let the thumbnail ruin it.

Getting well is first priority. You’ve done a lot for the core community so you all good. A snapshot preview everyone once in a while and update each week works. I personally don’t want the final product to be spoiled so don’t care much for video trailers or previews. But this snapshot here gets me hyped

mysticalmousie

Definitely would love previews and sneak peeks! Anyone who doesn’t want to see doesn’t have to look lol

Looking forward to the final product! Your work is always worth the wait. Personally I am good with a written post updating us. No need to waste time working on a trailer. Plus it adds to the suspense of the final product.

For me, the more previews the better!

Vision

I guess whichever option delivers best quality and performance. Im fine with waiting.

gtsfan07

I'd prefer only getting sparse sneak-peeks before the animation is complete- no spoilers. But I'm not overly concerned if that's what you decide to go with.

Weekly updates sound great! It's always annoying going full months without a word from you. I'd like to see some snippets/screenshots, but that's probably because I get impatient and love to see your work. I don't mind being spoiled. Get well soon.

And yeah, your well being is the most important. Hopefully everything is heading well for you.

I don't mind getting previews, but you should only do it if it doesn't hamper production. I have no problems waiting for the finished product. It's well worth waiting for. Does stitching things together later risk making the quality of the final piece worse with the stitching times being visible? If so then I say don't do it.

Screenshots for sure. Dont be like movie trailers that spoil the movie. Let the anticipation build up! But definitely focus on getting well!

The most important thing is that you stay well, and I hope the real-life issues you alluded to last month are in the rear-view as well. :) I'm with the others - I'd rather wait for what you feel represents the final product. Sure, the odd screenshot here and there as you go (especially of the little ladies!), but other than that, I'm happy to wait. Meanwhile, I'm looking at that still, looking at the reflection in the liquid in particular, and understanding why the rendering is taking longer here. It'll be worth the wait to see it all in motion!

Hope you are feeling better soon. I agree with PB take your time. Love the screen shots and I am fine with occasional snippets like the one you posted previously. You do amazing work and I am looking forward to the completion of this project with much anticipation.

No big spoil, just update, no need to cut scene just to save time, your video are always excellent! we can whait :)

PB

Nice screenshot :) i vote for preview screenshots that dont reveal to much and then release complete final video, no snippets. Hope you feel well soon. We love you and your work. Hang in there :)

First and foremost, get well. Focus on that first. No one wants you to work yourself sick bro. Second, take all the time you need. Third, weekly updates are fine - and with your work, i think screen caps are good indicators without spoiling too much! Also I have some questions for you in private about rendering and 3d design for a friend.
