I don't quite remember if I was the one who suggested Patton so I wouldn't take credit, but I'm sure I have at one time or another. It's easily my favorite biopic, and I'm a Patton junkie. I'm so glad you liked it that well, dude and that it stuck with you, whether I was the guy who suggested it or not. I

It isn't funny. But that is how soldiers deal with trauma alot of the time.

THANK YOU! I'm sick of seeing these guntubers recommend to carry one in the chamber. They're all going to shoot themselves or make a worse mistake eventually. It's idiotic

When i worked at a bank we had one customer that shot himself in the leg accidentally and died because he hit the artery. It can definitely happen.

I did multiple deployments as a paratrooper 82nd airborne, the bond and struggle is real. I don't talk to my friends daily but if they call I'm picking up the phone because it's important or they need someone to talk to.

Lipton was from Huntington, WV? Cool. I’m from northeastern KY, and Huntington is one of the places we go when we “go to town.” My newborn was born in Huntington just a few weeks ago. Small world.

Ambrose (author of the book) was concerned about putting the stories about Spiers into book in case he was sued for liable. So he asked Winters if it would be an issue; Winters called Spiers, and Spiers said that all the stories were true, though some were missing context or exaggerated.
The soldier Spiers shot, who was drunk, was arguing with him and pointed his rifle at him. That's when Spiers shot him. All of his men saw it, and it was ruled self-defence.
He also did shoot those prisoners, but it was only three, not twenty or thirty. But lots of prisoners were shot that day. The paratroopers were told not to take prisoners as they jumped behind enemy lines in front of the main invasion force. As they had no way to transport them without putting themselves and the invasion at risk.
Of course, many enlisted took prisoners, so some officers took it upon themselves to "take care" of them, not just Spiers.
