Ch. 149 Let's Have a Child!
Added 2023-11-15 16:00:08 +0000 UTCWhile Russell quite liked symbiotes, he didn't want any major symbiote-related events to occur on Earth.
After briefing Diana on his recent activities and arranging to have dinner together in the evening, Russell hung up the phone.
Just as he was about to continue playing the unbeaten Asassins's Creed, his phone suddenly rang.
Seeing the caller ID on the screen, he shrugged helplessly.
The one calling him was none other than Bakshi.
He pressed the answer button, and Bakshi's voice came through.
"When did you get back?"
Bakshi's tone was somewhat impolite.
"That's none of your business!"
Russell replied with a cold tone.
Whether it was Bakshi or Hydra, when dealing with them, one principle had to be followed: if they were fierce, you had to be even fiercer. If they dared to act against you, you needed to be prepared to wipe out their entire family. This way, they would treat you as an equal.
After hearing Russell's chilly response, Bakshi fell silent.
A few seconds later, he slowly said, "I didn't mean it that way. I'm just a bit worried if you encountered any trouble. So, I wanted to ask when you got back."
Bakshi's attitude had improved quite a bit.
"No trouble, just expended some effort to shake off that symbiote dragon," Russell said nonchalantly.
He didn't need to tell Bakshi the truth.
"After you left, the symbiote dragon came back."
"We're no match for it, and it even took away those three symbiotes."
As he spoke, Bakshi grew angrier the more he thought about it.
Although three symbiotes weren't a lot, they were still some gains. Yet, unexpectedly, Grendel didn't leave a single symbiote for them and killed a bunch of their men.
If he hadn't been clever enough to play dead, he might have been on the list of casualties by now.
"That symbiote dragon is indeed very powerful, and I'm not its match either!" Russell said earnestly.
Hearing Russell's words, Bakshi felt relieved.
If Russell wasn't a match for the symbiote dragon, then it was reasonable that the mission failed this time. At least now he had a legitimate excuse to explain to Whitehall why the operation failed. Though Whitehall might not necessarily accept his explanation, having an excuse was better than having none.
"Although the operation failed this time, the organization doesn't intend to give up capturing symbiotes."
"The organization is currently searching globally for the symbiote dragon. If you have any information on your end, you can inform us."
Bakshi said slowly.
"Alright, no problem!" Russell replied without hesitation.
Although he said that, he had no intention of revealing Grendel's location to Hydra.
"Since you're back safely, I won't disturb you anymore."
"By the way, I'll give you an extra piece of information. S.H.I.E.L.D. has their eye on you, and they might take some actions against you."
After saying this, Bakshi hung up the phone.
Although Bakshi provided him with information about S.H.I.E.L.D., Russell didn't pay much attention to it.
S.H.I.E.L.D. had been keeping an eye on him for a long time!
If Diana wasn't there, they would have taken necessary actions against him already.
Moreover, it wasn't just S.H.I.E.L.D. keeping tabs on him now; he was keeping tabs on them too.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have arranged for Natasha to return to S.H.I.E.L.D.
After tossing his phone aside, he turned on his computer and began playing Asassin's Creed.
Time flew by.
Unknowingly, evening descended.
Checking the time, Russell turned off his computer, put on Endosymbiotic Battle Armor, and left his office without looking back.
A few minutes later, he appeared unreservedly in front of the entrance to the Natural History Museum, wearing Endosymbiotic Battle Armor.
He was here to pick Diana up from work.
Although Diana didn't really like him picking her up from work, that was under normal circumstances.
An exception could be made when they had a date.
As he landed in front of the museum's entrance, a group of children ran towards him excitedly, surrounding him with eager smiles.
Seeing these kids who had just come out of the museum, Russell behaved incredibly friendly. He not only accepted their requests for photos but also left his signature for them.
As he maintained his superhero image while dealing with the excited kids, Diana, wearing a women's suit and draped in a gray overcoat that made her look both like a model and a powerful businesswoman, stepped out of the museum in high heels.
Observing Russell's smiling interaction with the kids, Diana stopped in her tracks and looked at him thoughtfully.
After all the kids had left contentedly, Diana, with an imposing presence that exuded a strong aura, approached Russell.
"Are you planning to go to the restaurant in your armor?" Diana asked softly.
"Of course not!"
Looking at Diana's immaculate face, which never seemed to get old, Russell disengaged from Endosymbiotic Battle Armor.
After disengaging, he didn't put Endosymbiotic Battle Armor back into the system space. Instead, he let No. 3 control Unit-01 to return to the Octopus Monster Group headquarters.
Shortly after Endosymbiotic Battle Armor left, a red Porsche 911 pulled up in front of them.
This wasn't the Porsche that had borne witness to many cherished memories between Russell and Diana; it was the new car Russell had bought just a few months ago.
As for the Porsche that had seen so many memories, it was now stored in the garage of the main Hydra headquarters.
Once the red Porsche 911 came to a stop, Russell first opened the passenger door for Diana.
Once Diana was seated in the passenger seat, he closed the door and took the driver's seat.
From the outside, the Porsche didn't look any different from other Porsches; it was the latest model of this year.
However, in reality, this was the latest Porsche 911 that had been modified by No. 3.
Russell didn't add too many flashy features to No. 3; he simply gave it true autonomous driving capabilities.
After naming the restaurant, the Porsche, equipped with the new car system, automatically planned the route and set off towards the restaurant.
After more than ten minutes, Russell and Diana arrived at the restaurant where they would be having dinner tonight.
It was a well-established French restaurant that had been operating in New York for fifty to sixty years, renowned for its exquisite and authentic cuisine, high prices, and difficult-to-reserve tables.
Russell hadn't made a reservation in advance.
Because this renowned New York French restaurant had been purchased by him two months ago.
He had offered the original owner an irresistible price.
After arriving at the table that was reserved exclusively for him and Diana and not available to the public, the waitstaff promptly brought over the already opened bottle of red wine and poured a glass for each of them without needing to be told.
Once the waitstaff left, Russell and Diana clinked their glasses.
Just as Russell was about to taste the bottle of red wine, which cost over ten thousand dollars, Diana suddenly spoke, "Let's have a child!"
If his self-control hadn't been good, Russell would have almost spat out the red wine in his mouth.
"What did you say?"
Swallowing the red wine in his mouth in one gulp, Russell looked at Diana in disbelief.
"I said, let's have a child!"
Diana said calmly.
Finishing her sentence, she took a sip of red wine with an impeccable noble posture.
