I had been optimistic that I could continue as I was living solely off commissions and providing Patreon content. But it's become increasingly clear that I've been naive about this. I just don't have the fan or client base to do so. It seems I've exhausted all the clients I've had with commissions and they no longer have work for me. And in working almost solely on commissions 10-12 hours a day, I haven't had time to work on Patreon content. My commission queue is looking thinner and thinner and with less major paying projects to work on. It might be a time management or advertising problem on my part. Something I'm missing or something that was never there for me to begin with.

So I'm applying to a job placement agency. I'll probably go back into telecommunications. I'm hoping I can find something that pays better than my previous jobs. Hopefully without working nights. We'll see. If I can find something good that can pay my bills, I'll be shutting down commissions completely and working solely on personal art in my spare time, if I have any.

I still want to do the monthly stream for my patrons no matter how this goes. I'll keep open the 1, 3, and 5 dollar tiers for those that want to keep supporting my work. But I'll shut down the 10 and 20 dollar ones once I find employment.

With it looking like it's gonna be another year or two till I can move to Canada to be with Angie, It'll be best to find something more stable anyway. I do appreciate all of you that have supported me here and through commission work. I am very grateful to you all.

I'll still take commissions till I can find employment, and continue to work on them till I close and I'll devote my time off to finish them all till they're all done.

So the downside will be no commissions, but the upside will be more personal content hopefully.

Thank you all so much,

Haley

I really appreciate your support. Things will get better and I hope to bring you all on the ride with me when they do. Angie's passport will be renewed and returned to her on the 21st and she'll be able to visit me in April when we plan to get married legally (We'll have a ceremony later, maybe this summer or the next). But there won't be much to stop me from visiting and moving up when we're officially family. Also, I may have a position soon working with Newfoundland-Labrador Provincial Bingo as an artist and satellite communications consultant. Checking as many of those check marks as I can to satisfy them. So the light is still there to run towards no matter how many times it seems to be moved.

Things are picking up again. I think my patience serves me well. I do have small breakdowns, but I feel a lot better once I talk to my friends and Angie. I do get tired. But I'd rather die fighting than just lay down and die.

God, it always makes me sad af to think about how events changed on ya. I've always been impressed at just how easily amused I am by your work, and how easily it makes me smile. There's just something so authentic about it. With that in mind, it's hard for me to imagine things got to this point, but I'm glad you're being proactive and trying to swim out on top. Best of luck, buddy. Life's not always easy, but maybe you'll end up liking where things take you. <3

Crowd funding is not a sustainable job, you are relying on others to pay your bills and that's shaky ground. I think having a job that you can supplement with Patreon is the best use of it for people like us. Doing this as extra income is definitely less stressful.
