What Should We Focus On: Content VS Mechanics

Attention Romans! Your help is needed!

A true republic is led.. by it's people! It's time for you, citizens of Rome, to cast your vote. As true Romans, you have a voice. Where should the eyes of the republic gaze next?

We have received a lot of requests for the upcoming builds. Some of those, are focused on more contents and game-play time in the form of story, dialogues, quests and such. Others, have expressed interest mostly in more sex positions, animations, bigger skill tree, more training options and such.

Don't misunderstand us, Romans - eventually, Rome will have everything, but as we are still a republic (a small team), as we are transforming to the mighty Empire we deserve to be.. we need to choose our battles.. or at least where to focus more harshly. So.. it is your time to decide where we should put more of our efforts: Story and content or Mechanics and skills.

Choose wisely, Romans... the future of the republic depends on you.

FOR HONOR. AND GLORY.
THE SENATE.

Content for sure.

Temptress Games

Ha ha! Your SPQR at the end killed me! :D Interesting point, thanks! Yeah, in any case we will start adding content from next build, its just a question of what to push harder

Slaves of Rome

Yeah, we'll be adding some story and game time next build - not a huge amount but it'll be a start. We are just wondering what is more important to people and what they want to see most

Story and content :)

Offshore - Adult Games Developer

I think a spiral development would suit your case. I would opt for more scenario options initially, in order to provide a sense of depth to my customers. Then, I would continue with the mechanics, and soforth. You could also try implementing historical events in the game. Also a focus on the main character with customization abilities for the player in order of appearance and also his/her inner psyche development. Hope I helped. Keep up the banners of Rome. Cannot wait to see the Forum full of online players. SPQR!

I'm on the fence about this. You do have a good amount going on at the moment. Maybe a little of story and content would be a good thing. More play-time is what developers should always shoot for. That would mean players play more.

I completely agree. However, a few people mentioned it can be a bit disappointing that there isn't a lot of content (which means not a lot of game-play time), even for a patreon demo.. making the systems work first makes sense development wise, but we were wondering if we were doing something wrong and this might disappoint some people, so wanted to ask you guys if maybe we should change that and pay more attention to the story before the systems are finished

Slaves of Rome

I'm more of a fan of story content, but think that development should start with mechanics. With a robust set of mechanics, it gets easier to implement story content later.
