I see it even in Japanese pro-wrestling matches, the crowds are dead silent -- loud applause -- dead silence -- loud applause. I will say tho... in this case for English Dub I feel Gohans reaction thinking Goku needs to show his full power already and take cell out is a better set up for what's to come. I actually love that Alexis picked up on Gohan having those thoughts and questioned it.
