People actually acted surprised during the Cell Games when Piccolo said Gohan didn't like fighting. Like, no duh he doesn't like fighting, Gohan was watching genocides and fighting galactic emperors at half the age Goku was when he met Bulma in OG Dragon Ball. That poor kid went through it, and it wasn't even his choice to go through it, he got KIDNAPPED and forced to fight. Goku doesn't just enjoy fighting because he's a pure-blood Saiyan, he likes fighting because he grew up with a totally different context of it than Gohan. Goku got to learn peacefully and willingly from his grandpa and didn't even fight another Earthling until he was already 10, and most of the fights were non-lethal. It took almost the whole series to reach an actual world threatening event like King Piccolo.

Future Gohan died trying to bring peace to the future and abandoning his dreams and his own desires. Present Gohan deserves this for all that he went through since the age of 4. This is is why Future Trunks went back in time, save both timelines.
