2017-09-18 19:39:42 +0000 UTCi was gonna do a "gao" face for them but i went with something tamer just kept the file name xD just practicing certain faces for certain scenes i'd like to draw in the future bc im rusty. i like your speculation though; i actually didn't think about if they were interacting with the viewer or something else bc i was purely going for just expression practice. will definitely try to go back to my roots of my sketchy style with minimal accent color for future stufff :) thank you <3

2017-09-18 10:33:23 +0000 UTCThe title of this sketch might say gao, but I don't really get an ahegao vibe from this. When I think of ahegao, I think eyes rolled into the back of the skull, tongue out, heavy blushing, maybe even some drool and tears for the super dirty folk. I'm not super familiar with the literal definition though but I could be wrong. It might just mean 'in the throes of ecstasy", which the faces for these two certainly convey, whatever they may be doing. I particularly love your sketchy style, it's a treat on it's own. The brush you use is so good. Super thick lines, transparent strokes, obvious erasure marks proudly displayed. Upon looking at it closer, I see Korra let out a bit of drool, which is a nice touch. That really sells the ahegao. But man, the scenario feels more like they're both basking in an after sex-glow. They're both looking at the viewer so maybe it was because of a third party's actions? Pure speculation. As for the colors, the monochrome choice instantly sells the old-style look, something that ties into Legend of Korra's narrative. The only distinct varying colors are their eyes (and Asami's hair tie), which, for me, drives the first-glance mentality of a vintage time frame into the background as your inspired aesthetic comes to bear.
