Here, once again

Hi, it's been a while isn't it?

What's new?

Even when I visualized this update as a smaller one, it had even less content than I wanted to add.

There are two new scenes, both for Juniper.

Both events are longer and more thought-out than any other before them.

Visually speaking they are not so different from the ones in the last update, but written wise, if I can say so myself, they are the best ones yet.

Even so, I don't think that justify the long wait, and the lack of content.

Other than that, there's also the extra tier 3 reward I showed a while ago available on the gallery, and some general bug fixes.

Regarding the other event I mentioned a while ago, well, it's halfway done so I'll have to save it for the next update.

Now, going to the next point.

About the delays and unfinished content.

I had mentioned a few times I've busy doing something else while working on the game, but I've never been clear about that.

I originally planned to keep it that way, but since I have been constantly having troubles to meet my own deadlines, I think you all deserve to know what's happening, after all it is only due to your support that I've been able to work on the game.

Going straight to the point, I've been trying to develop the game at the same time I've been trying to finish college, and being frank is fucking awful.

Now, being more like, explicative, let me talk to you about how I came to this point.

Due to some personal reasons, I've been going in and out of college for a couple of years, like one semester in, and one out.

It's happens to be that last year I had to get out of college in the middle of the second semester, so I had some "free" time, at that point I had been wettings my toes for a while in the art creation pool for some time, so, while working part time I studied a little about game creation to diversify myself.

I'm not sure when exactly to put the starting point, but I would say that I started working on the game as it is right now around january or february, obviously at the start it was more of a planning stage; learning how to use essentials, planning an overarching story and experimenting with some character designs, until reaching a style that convinces me.

And so, v0.1 and v0.2 were made mostly as my main work, while everything else were more of a secondary things.

Of course at that point the biggest time consumer was the fact that I didn't knew anything about what I was doing, but I think I power through it fairly well.

Then the first half of v0.3 was made in more or less the same condition, but halfway through it I went back to study, there the reason why my workflow suddenly plummeted and the update got so delayed.

And that's the way we got here, with such a small update.

Right now it takes me about an hour just to go to college and another one to get back home.

And at the same time I've been going two times a week to "work" at a lab to prepare next year's internship.

So in terms of time, I haven't had that much time.

Personally, I 100% want to do this full-time, the game I mean, but you probably can understand the situation I'm in.

I was planning to just power through it in silence, but seeing how everything has been affecting the game development, I think it was best to let you all know about it.

Considering my situation things will probably keep going like this until december, and if everything went right next year I'll just have to deal with the internship; in a void it is a bigger time consumer than going to classes, but considering the place is closer to my home than college, that I won't have to be worried about having to study for tests, and that the place I'm seeing have more permissive hours it should give me more time to work on the game.

But all of that is to see, and honestly I wouldn't have anything clear about that until probably february.

Another point I wanted to touch on is how I use Patreon's money; honestly I would prefer to reinvest it on the game, buying a new monitor, upgrading my PC, getting a new drawing tablet, etc. but right now I need it to pay for college...

For what I've heard, in the US college prices are absurdly high, but here they are relatively bearable, if you pay them right away it is, cause if you take a loan you'll spend at least (and I'm being optimistic here) a decade paying them.

I can't really give an exact amount, since change rates are always fluctuating, but for this semester I just need around $2.000 USD.

My original plan was to use as much as I made from Patreon for it, and have my parents help with the rest, but going for the tendencies I had the last months, I should have enough to pay around december (Considering I've been only using the money sparsely just to survive this past months), but obviously this can all change from one moment to another, so I can't be lenient with money.

So, with all that said, I don't plan on stopping to work on the game.

The only thing able to make me stop doing it would be a cease and desist from you know who.

And if that ever happens I'll just start working on the next one (Not related to them of course).

The future of

Related to everything said above; a few posts ago I mentioned changing a little the way I draw, to be able to draw faster.

Even though you probably can't really see the difference in time, I think that was the right decision to make, but that doesn't mean I'm choosing to do a lackluster work.

I've never been the kind of artist that presents their work as something remarkable, I don't even see myself as someone worthy of the title "artist".

But, at the same time I think that the most important thing needed to be able to get better at something is being aware of the fact that your work, whatever the nature of it, is always up to improvement.

Following that line, I always try to make every piece I do to be better, in at least one aspect, than the last one.

And I don't plan on changing that in the near future.

So, with all that said, I'm in a weird position. I wonder if it is common for other creators to get in similar situations.

For what I have in front of me, I see two ways onward.

The first is to keep doing the best I can with monthly updates, with the constant problem that they won't have as much content as I would like, due to time constraints.

And the other is to have set up goal for of content for any update, and take as much time as necessary to have it finished, with the obvious problem of taking longer to finish them.

Both ways there are drawbacks, and I'll probably make a pool to leave the final decision to you, but having all of this in a pool post is probably too much...

Either way, I want to know your opinions.

In other news, this time I didn't have help with the spell checking, so if you find anything let me know.

To trigger Juniper's events you need to have beaten the gym leader, and have evolved your starter (One for each), if the evolution one isn't triggering, you may need to visit the Glade first.

For both scenes, a VA would have been great, but for what I mentioned before, I can't afford to pay one right now, so... maybe if there's any volunteer here (?)

Again, sorry about the lack of content, I tried my best, if you find any bug let me know it, I'll fix it asap.

Working completely without deadlines tends to be a bad idea. I mod games myself a lot and sometimes have to set some deadlines for myself to get them finished. But small monthly updates probably isnt great, either. I think quality just goes up when you tackle bigger projects all at once. So I'd say~ instead of monthly, go for an update every 2 months to start with, see how that works out. Small updates can be pushed in-between, of course.

I'm digging it, love the game and art style so much, and i love the games focus on relationships and how you won't be adding NTR. If you are ok with me giving some grammar fixes i would be more then open to helping you out, even if they're little ones.
