I just realised something about this show, and I've seen it several times so that's saying something 😆, but the reason why he didn't want to call the police and just wanted to hand over the money is because the dad would find out if he was caught in a scandal and it would equal a severe beating. I wish he had told them everything then, they would have understood or not let him get involved, but I think in the end, he still would jabe felt weak and belittled and the show would end the same way. If he had only spoken to them and trusted them, maybe the ending would have been different.
