2024-12-11 00:08:55 +0000 UTCWomen don’t agency in this fantasy world i just need y’all understand that one. If you’re highborn you’re still sold off to the highest bidder just like a poor girl is sold to a man on the street. Aint nobody being a whore just for nothing & because they just want to. Even in our world currently, women don’t do it for nothing.

2024-06-28 03:14:19 +0000 UTCTHANK YOU Adison, I felt like I was the only one when watching this series that was not a fan of Danny's manipulation of the people for her rise to power. Viewers looove her but for me I was always uncomfortable with her quid pro quo tactics and her "gimme, I deserve that" mentality.

2024-06-27 20:11:00 +0000 UTCCatelyn was wrong in her treatment of Jon snow point blank period. However it’s not surprising considering what he represents for her (and her children) and the type of mentality she has. Her actions during the war or the beginning of it make sense for her character (family , duty , honor) She was the one who found out about the Lannisters having anything to do with Bran. Littlefinger then provided information on where the knife came from (Tyrion) and she went on from there. Overall, She’s not that bad besides the Jon snow stuff and even that I can understand her on bc 1. She can’t leave 2. Ned RAISED that boy not bastarded him off as another man at the time would do (As he should, Ned not like them 🫰🏿😭) 3. His existence threatened her children’s future and she was YOUNG when she married Ned so praying for that in their world is it the most wild thing someone could do ? if anything that was instant karma on her end more so than Jon’s and she stuck by that bed like a sinner at confession

2024-06-26 09:15:19 +0000 UTCOn a personal level, I hate to see somebody be cruel to a child, so I don't usually bother defending Catelyn from the mean to Jon Snow allegations too much, but in the context of the game of thrones world, he is a huge threat to her. Catelyn is quite extraordinary in that she isn't actively cruel to him, she just isn't kind, the only really terrible things she does are think something bad then regret it, and tell him something bad when she's in grief over her son almost dying. It's possible to not abandon a bastard but have them raised by a foster family, it's possible to give them their own lands and holdings away from your main seat and where your wife and other children live. For various reasons we nowadays would consider honourable, Ned doesn't do this, but in the context of the show it is a huge slap in the face for Catelyn. She can't leave because she can't really divorce, and she already has Robb by the time Ned comes back with Jon. She should leave, break a political alliance with the new King, and leave her newborn baby behind because he's Ned's heir to go back to a father that might not take her in? Make it make sense. The fact that she can't leave, that Ned is her lord and she can't do anything against him, that he's a good man she grows to love, all these things make her resent Jon more. It's a sad situation.

2024-06-26 07:24:22 +0000 UTCI honestly think that Jaime's life would be drastically improved if he married Brienne and moved to Tarth lands. It's just not possible. Even if Jaime could shake the spell Cersei holds over him, Tywin would never stand for "wasting" Jaime on an ineffectual house like Tarth.

2024-06-26 07:16:57 +0000 UTCForever team Catelyn. The hate for her is extreme and nonsensical. She made the best decision to save her daughters and end a war on good terms. Robb got big headed after a few wins and was leading with ego, it logic. Karstarks were going to kill Jaimie, which would have ended their cause. And Robb threw that decision away by marrying a random chick which was a huge political blunder.

2024-06-26 04:58:31 +0000 UTCEven her treatment of John snow is defensible. Most men didn’t bring their outside babies into the home of their wives. She couldn’t go against her husband (who is her lord) so naturally she would be cold to the child. Women already didn’t have a choice of marriage, couldn’t get divorce, couldn’t hold lands unless it was controlled by a husband, father or so, so the only thing they could control was the relationship between children. Expecting a wife and mother to be okay with a John snow in her home is ridiculous. Even today.

2024-06-26 04:32:18 +0000 UTCCatelyn is not my favorite but it this was the situation was. When Jaime was brought back after his attempted escape the fact was that he would not have survived that night and that would have lead to the probable loss of her daughters. She didn't know Arya wasn't still in king's landing. Letting Jaime go was the better decision. A dead Jaime does not help their cause.

2024-06-26 03:22:27 +0000 UTCI normally leave y’all be but I think you are forgetting @33:04 when Addison said you live this life, you know what it was gonna be about. Followed by, “Why do it”? These women did not have options. No girl (person) thinks, I’m going to be the best whore. I can sympathize with her thinking she was moving up in the world with someone that loved her, only to be reminded of her status.

2024-06-26 01:52:05 +0000 UTCSo Robb and Talisa actually got married, meaning their potential son will be heir to the North and making her queen. Robb marrying Talisa means he broke his oath to Lord Frey, when he promised to make one of his daughter’s his queen in exchange for moving his army over their bridge. Lord Frey is rightfully extremely angry about this oath being broken, and a Robb now needs his army and supplies since he’s lost the Karstarks, so he has agreed to marry his uncle, the Lord of Riverrun, to one of Frey’s daughters instead.

2024-06-26 00:56:10 +0000 UTCI think there are a number of defensible positions with Catelyn that often get overlooked but her treatment of Jon Snow isn't one of them. I think her taking Tyrion prisoner when she did is defensible, as she was kind of up against a rock and a hard place given that she was traveling in secret and Tyrion immediately sussed her out. There weren't a lot of options in the moment. Letting Jaime go was terrible but if you remember the surrounding context, Rob was away with his now wife and the Karstarks wanted to execute Jaime then and there. Brienne even makes it a point that Jaime may not last the night because nearly everyone would be willing to give him up at that time. Catelyn was backed into a wall in part for Rob Starks absence and made a decision, which was foolish but also understandable for her as a mother who lost her husband and nearly all of her kids were missing or captured. With Jon Snow, it was just spite and indefensible. Everyone knows he did nothing wrong but what was the threat that he posed to Catelyn exactly? He had no birthright, he was no threat to Catelyn's children to inherit anything. Furthermore, Cateyln didn't hardly know Ned Stark when he left for war. She was betrothed to his older brother for a long time and only last minute after Ned's brother was killed did that change. Yes, I understand she feels embarrassed by having a bastard around but I think it is more a reflection of her own lack of self confidence that someone regarded as so honorable, Ned Stark, would cheat on him. It's not fair to her but taking it out on the kid was petty.

2024-06-25 22:12:06 +0000 UTCI see I'm going to have to defend my girl Catelyn again. She didn't make a voodoo doll to make Jon sick, she wished he would disappear/die which is bad, then when he got sick she made that funky wood thing to make him better and prayed he'd recover. She's also, in my opinion, 100% right on the Jaime issue. She didn't come straight from meeting with Baelish at Renly's camp and free Jaime. She told Robb about the offer. Then when Robb left camp, Karstark (who proved himself to be an absolute freak who will commit treason and murder children) was absolutely going to kill Jaime for revenge and probably get her daughters killed and that's when she sent Brienne away with him rather than lose him everybody. She made the right decision.

2024-06-25 21:41:42 +0000 UTCI think the reason Jon knows the wildlings have always lost is that he has read and heard the historical records/songs I don't think the wildlings have written history and they have less cohesion/continuity in their society. For top characters at this stage, mine (in no particular order) are Brienne, Catelyn, Davos, Olenna, Arya.

2024-06-25 21:22:45 +0000 UTCEven though I can’t stand Catelyn, she has no choice but to stay. Women in these times belong to their father until he marries them off. She had no choice but to stay and let Jon stay but if she can forgive Ned and grow to love him, she can find some kindness in her heart for Jon
