Yeah, this episode Dany was a little hypocrticial. She didn't give any of the masters whom she nailed to the cross 163 times any kind of trial, and she said this was justice. So Mossador (the former slave she had beheaded), does the same thing to the masked harpy who is going around killing former slaves/unsullied, killing without trial as justice and he gets beheaded for it.

2024-08-21 22:35:00 +0000 UTCIn modern times the defendant can decide whether they still want a trial or not and I don’t think he plead for a trial in this case, he plead to be spared over all because he didn’t believe what he did was wrong at all. That’s what she wanted to show the people - that just because you’re a freed slave doesn’t mean you now have the right to kill in the name of vengeance. It obviously backfired, I agree she shouldn’t have done it publicly at all.

So what makes a good leader is one that INCLUDES emotion IN their logic, but their logic is not RULED by their emotions.

Although his acts was justified it still broke the law and she definitely needed to set a huge precedent. Like for example if someone unalived your brother , and in returned you unalived that person. The police will still arrest you. And this is the onetime I don’t see Dany decision as emotional. As harsh as it was, it was necessary. Although they are free , it is still rules to engagement.

The punishment for that is death and any king would have done the same. She just shouldn't have done ít publicly.

2024-08-20 12:35:39 +0000 UTCI always felt like the situation Dany was in was a damned if you do, damned if you don't one. It also highlighted her inexperience and her need for better advisors. Her biggest mistake was making this public but it's also showing that while she's trying to be a ruler, she's struggling as well. Also i felt like Drogon visiting her was him feeling the turmoil she was in and doing a check in.

If she was so adamant that the Son of the Harpy gets a trial, why wouldn't she give this other man a trial as well? If she really cared about changing how justice is done she wouldn't have immediately jumped to capital punishment

Tbh, I was not a fan of the "I'm the chosen one plus I got dragons so gimme" bulldozer-style conquering she showed us last season. The "freeing the people" avenue was imo always just a facade to allow her to take ownership of whatever she wanted while also feeding her ego and self image as a Godqueen. (I'm not saying the actions themselves aren't wonderful, just that the motives weren't as pure as she pretends). Is she kind and empathetic? Does she have a good heart? Yes. She has many, many great qualities. But people so often fail to see her many flaws that I appreciate your take alot, it's rare!!

The fact that her commands are being ignored by the very people she is trying to rule is a big problem. In these times they're living in , death is usually the punishment for not following the King or queen command. She cannot let this guy go . She already killed 100 + master , to please the slaves she freed. Now she gave a clear order and he disobeyed. She is the queen of the slaves AND the masters. She cannot play favoritism. She was being fair. I don't believe she has to baby them because they were slaves. She can give retribution for their years of slavery in other field : Economy, education, finance. NOT JUSTICE. Its just nonsense. You do not play with people's lives and just get Scott free.

Season 5 and six each hold at least 2 episodes that I absolutely love. You'll see. In the words of Ramsey Snow/Bolton, "If you think this has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention."
