2025-03-24 05:08:54 +0000 UTCI think that a lot of people don't consider that a lot has changed in how people watch television since GoT started and I have seen the way that people react to Dany now is a bit different than the way people reacted to Dany a few years ago. It's been really interesting actually. I also believe that not everyone needs to like our faves. We don't need to defend a character every time a person doesn't vibe with them. Dany makes questionable choices. She does. Her intentions are good, but she's imperfect and I like that about her BECAUSE she's a woman and she's allowed to be that.

This is the first time I got that impression from this scene and it's because last night I listened to the Prologue chapter of Dance of the Dragons (youtube has it) and it's from the POV of the character Varamyr Sixskins, one of the wildling wargs, and in one part he's warging so quickly through different animals, even trees. So when I watched this scene now, it gave me that same impression.

It's logical to be more critical of her when she's the one whose family has a history of power-hungry madness. It's fair to look for any signs of that in her, including the way she says things.

This time pay attention to all the warning signs that Dani has a dark , controlling nature. Remember all Targaryen s are inner bred. They are Known to be slightly mad. You just haven’t paid attention. I give it to Addison. He’s seen her very early on. Where as Brandon has her back. Does she deserve it? Is she the rightful heir?? I’d argue give the war was won by the Baratheon’s that Gendry has more right to the throne than Dani the conquering blood and fire queen. Also there was a conversation here with Sam that revealed something you totally missed. Pause if you are talking through dialogue. For you have missed the most important revelation in this season.

Maybe not roll up on complete strangers and go hey so we dont know each other but either you listen to me or your entire house dies :) Tyrion was absolutely right in this. She's a foreign conqueror to these people and she's showing them nothing but brutality and force, the same as other rulers before did, especially her ancestors. So much for breaking the wheel.

I think that's why some of us (well, me lol) feel there's a dichotomy between punishment by Jon and by Dany. And I'm totally cool w her saying "join or die" but don't pretend your being merciful while doing it, that is not a choice. The rationale that "all characters do that" isn't really the case either: of course this is more of a plot device to spare our favs, but most characters on this show don't actually kill surrendered POWs that often. I mean, look at how many characters survived imprisonment... Rob w Jamie, let him live. Mance w Jon. Cersei with Sansa. Brienne w Jamie. Cat w Tyrion. Honestly I don't really care one way or the other so don't come at me too hard 😋❤

2024-10-14 23:29:52 +0000 UTCNah, I get what you're saying because he's constantly criticizing her, but imo that's only because he has always seen Dany's worst qualities, whereas alot of us allow her to get away w them because her story/character is so interesting. His opinion of her is justified imo; it's not a bad take or a misogyny thing. I mean, he calls out EVERYONE on what he disagrees with -- Theon's faults (the trauma for him is no excuse), Sansa speaking up publicly against Jon, he even called out Arya on her tone this ep (which no one EVER does in that scene). I think they're very fair in their criticism of Dany, she's egotistical and he just keeps calling her out on it.
