* The title of the episode, "What Lies Ahead", refers to the dangers that lie ahead of the group as they leave Atlanta. * Originally, the episode was gonna be titled "Miles Behind Us", like Volume 2 of the Comic Series * The episode's exact runtime is 01:02:52. * As of this episode, Norman Reeds (Daryl Dixon) has been added to the Opening Credits * Melissa McBride (Carol Peletier), IronE Singleton (T-Dog) and Madison Lintz (Sophia Peletier) are upgraded from "Co-Stars" to "Also Starring" in this episode * At the beginning of the episode, when Rick is talking about Jacqui's recent suicide over the radio, a group of walkers can be seen in the city devouring an animal. These walkers are the same ones later seen at the beginning of S2EP13 "Beside the Dying Fire" who become the start of the herd that eventually overruns the Greene farm. * When Rick and the group go to the Southern Baptist Church of Holy Light, the sign has the phrase, "Revelations 16:17". If translated, this Bible passage reads, "The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and out of the temple came a loud voice from the throne, saying, "It is done!". * This is the last episode produced by TV Series creator Frank Darabont * Initially, the episode would have started out differently. Rick and the group would travel to the city to return to the Atlanta Nursing Home, where they would find it completely destroyed, and all the residents dead. After recovering the weapons they had shared, they decide to leave the city to Fort Benning * Neil Brown Jr. (Guillermo) was hired for this episode and several scenes were filmed in the location, but eventually the entire sequence was removed from the final edit and the pre-credits scene was re-recorded. * When Daryl retrieves a pistol from a tent, the dead man inside has a large button pinned to his jacket that reads, "No Excuse For Domestic Violence". * Grady Memorial Hospital, an important location in Season 5, makes a cameo appearance in the background during the opening scene. * In one scene, Shane passes by a car that has an Obama campaign stick, thus confirming Barack Obama was president at the time of the outbreak. | * Jeffrey DeMunn's (Dale) name is misspelled in the intro as Jeffery DeMunn. * Though all services have broken down, the church still has electricity to run its automated church bell speaker and sound system. * The sweat stains on T-Dog's shirt change between shots while he is talking to Dale * When Daryl is cutting open a walker in the woods to see what it ate while searching for Sophia, he stabs the walker several times, but when he pulls the knife out of the zombie, it stays clean. * Despite the fact that people only have to die to reanimate, the people who died on the road remain corpses with no sign of anyone having put them down.

Shane, Lori and Andrea are the trifecta of bad/stupid decisions Andrea could end her own life at any point but she doesn't because she doesn't want to die she's just choosing to stay mad at dale to stay mad.

Lori told Shane to stay away but she didn’t say to treat her son badly if he goes up to him. That’s two different situations and if anything Shane is taking out his anger and frustration on Carl. With Andrea I understand her anger as well. In a world that they are living in now. I want it to be my choice in how I die and live. Why didn’t anyone give the same speech to the other lady who was there? That’s my argument lol Love watching these with you guys. 🤗😊

From the hunters vantage point all those shrubs and brush could look a lot different and not be covering up as much as someone would think. Not to mention you really only need to see from the front leg to halfway down the deer's body to get a good kill shot off. Also, I don't know what kind of domesticated deer they are portraying here, but all the deer I have seen won't let you get within 20 yards of them unless your creeping with camo on

Firefighters got on coms and said, if you want to live, leave your cars. So people ran and they had to bulldoze the cars so the firefighters could get to the fire. It was nuts to see tbh.

2025-02-02 06:24:00 +0000 UTCNormally I'd agree you wouldn't see someone shooting through the thick brush like that, but that's because of hunters safety and laws, and common sense. However, given that it's the end of the world, and you're not out sitting in a tree stand, you're walking through the woods looking for food, you're probably pretty hungry, you'd take a risky shot through some thick shit because who knows when you're going to see another deer, and it's the end of the world so you're not thinking of other people out in the woods you assume they're all gone, probably haven't seen another human in the woods in weeks. Just walkers and the occasional deer. So, I'd say someone would be much more likely to take that super shitty, and super risky shot in the apocalypse while starving. It'd be hard to care what's in your way, or what your backstop is when you're in survival mode.

And the deer was tall enough that looking through a scope of a rifle you wouldn’t see anything behind him. N another thing Rick was just thinking about having a father/son moment in which they both were really enjoying at the time, just unfortunate and very unlucky
