From how I interpreted the Rick/Shane convo I believe Rick was trying to say that in the moment he would’ve did the same thing to Otis if it meant he would’ve survived to save Carl but him thinking he would while not being in that situation doesn’t mean he would do that. I believe in the moment that Rick wouldn’t have did that to somebody as good spirited as Otis.

As to your first major question in the video, I think we got to look at it from Rick's POV. He was allegedly dead, his wife hooked up with his "best friend" after a month, if that. He came back and I think she is doing her best to devote herself to Rick and let him know that whatever happened in the time you were "dead" is no longer the case. We can't ignore the possibility that the baby might be Shane's, and I think that she is acknowledging that possibility and reminding Rick that no matter what, idc if Murray himself pulls up, that baby is Rick's, end of story. From this perspective, I think that this is an act of loyalty. Lori is reminding him that "no matter what", is her and Rick. No Shane.

I mean Shane has his own lil deal. but .... that doesn't have anything to do with the kid needing to go. Shane's feelings didn't shoot at them, that kid did. It's the kid who tells r^&e stories, about 'his friends" in a creepy daydreamy way that makes daryl almost hurt him. Not shane's feelings that tells that story. None of this has anything to do with Shane's feelings, really. matter fact, he's right lol one of the few times. Hell the kid sees who Shane is first hand, witnesses the worst thing Shane's done yet; tries to kill his lifelong best friend over his wife. And what's the kid say? "you'll fit in perfect. we're a wild bunch, but it's fun" lol if shane's 'the" bad guy, what's that make that kid for saying that... "you'll fit right in with us, we're wild" lol this kid is clearly written to be an awful person, and even he knows it lol the entire point of this series of events, seems to me, is to show that Shane is right about some things, despite being a dickhead. that Rick may not be ready to do what he has to do to keep his family alive even when it's a cut and dry, black and white obvious answer. and to show that folks in general are holding onto order and an old way that doesn't really exist anymore. This contradictory struggle of "this kid NEEDS to go, there's NO way this kid can or should live and it's blatantly obvious. but we want to retain our humanity and the order of a modern society". .. n we watch as Shane and RIck n the rest grapple with it, come to terms, rationalize it in their dif ways. Which leads them both to... go further down their growing paths. Basically its divergent evolution of 2 best friends reacting to the same extreme circumstances, as we watch, and growing apart. with Rick's inability to come to terms with this obvious decisio serving as a breaking point and a catalyst for Shane to justify all his wrongness lol folks sure can justify a lot of wrongness with just a lil rightness. . The thing about Shane is he can be right but so wrong, his reasoning for everything was all about Lori and for that I can never give him flowers. He was a bad man maybe it was the apocalyptic shock of it all but he went delirious. Barn sure even that could have been handled a better way if a real convo was had. Not everyone is like Shane who survive to survive Rick is someone with a heart sadly it later changes but even that was more reasonable then Shane’s reason for insanity. At the end of it all it is humility vs animal instinct and Shane became an animal fast, worse than the zombies even.

Actually no one forced her, Rick told her she can make the decision but at least make him aware. At some point Shane said it out loud making everyone aware no one really addressed it after. Lori made that final decision nobody got in her head, even Glenn told her to make a decision that she doesn’t regret.

Lets ask Shane if it was weak of Rick to come save his ass, cause you know if roles were reversed Shane would have left Rick for dead and played it off as some "I had to make a hard choice for the greater good of the group." bs. Also love how he couldn't even look Rick in the eye as he was talking to him. At the end of the day Shane is a perfect example on how just cause someone is a tough guy doesn't mean they cant be a coward too.

Y’all gotta remember and understand, Shane is Rick’s best friend, and he values that. It is a part of who he is, he’s not just going to write him off, even though he has done and said many things to hurt Rick. At the end of the day Rick is not Shane and this is something that makes it very distinguishable for his character. But, Rick is also letting him know once you push him too far he will do what needs to be done.

loved both conversations Rick & Shane; Lori & Andrea. Rick is right, it wasn't weakness that stopped him from killing Shane when he realized Shane & Lori hooked up. I also want Dale to tell Rick about how Shane had him in his sights in season 1. I don't think Rick knows that Shane really wants to kill him. And I'm glad Andrea called Lori out with the 'boyfriend' line.

I felt like Rick was saying he would have done the same thing in the case of Otis. I think Rick was feeling insecure about Shane trading every shred of his humanity for Lori and Carl, like Shane is willing to do more for them than Rick. I think that is obviously not true. Rick is too much of a good man. In the case of Otis, he most likely would have sacrificed himself to save Otis and Carl.

I think you're on the right track. But it's specifically in regards to their difference in opinion about what is necessary, what is coming. "maybe the snow will kill them. we can get snowmobiles. things can be normal again'..... businessman, specifically. zombie'ing through a corn field. it's representing RIck's nativity as seen through Shane's eyes, Shane's continued perception that Rick is living in a fairytale world, Shane's unchanging attitude on the fact that there is no going back, Rick is in denial. and that acceptance and a big change is what is necessary to keep Lori and carl safe, as the smoke clears and the new world continues to unveil itself. But he bites his tongue, torn between 'knowing" that/wanting to protect Lori and Carl and loyalty to his best friend, and his leadership. That's my take. So I think you're right; I just think it's a lil more specific than that and I think it's as much of a metaphor for the state of the world vs what Rick seems to see. my 2 cents. a simpler way to read that would be mixing what you just said with the look on shane's face as Rick talks about how things will get better "mfer, that's a businessman from Chatanooga zombie'ing through a corn field 250 miles away from his office lol walking in the other direction indefinitely. i'm literally looking at a physical metaphor for a dead world and a dead way of life continuing on being dead.... going on its dead ol way; just strutting along going about its dead world business.... and you're talking to me about snowmobiles and Georgia winters saving the world". so basically what you said juxtaposed with the inherent metaphor that zombie provides for a dead world that ain't stopping, ain't slowing, aint coming back to life... The Walker in the field is Symbolism for Shane...Beginning of Episode the Walker is out in field..the end of the episode, the Walker is still there....no change. Reflecting Shane's attitude and demeanor at the beginning and towards the end of episode..or at least that is what I took from it
