In the next shot, the handles are pointed out. * Before committing suicide, Andrea says "I know how the safety works" as Rick hands her the Colt Python. Though it's a throwback to the same line she said before, it’s also an error here as revolvers don't have safeties. * When Andrea shoots herself and just before she drops the Python, a shell can be heard hitting the ground, even though revolvers do not eject shells when fired. * Although, this is very likely just the sound of Andrea dropping the revolver after she committed suicide. * All throughout Season 3-including the episode previous-the gate between the courtyard and the field in the prison had been a roller gate. In this episode, the gate has been redesigned without any acknowledgement on-screen, to accommodate some new hinges, with the rollers located away from the bars they once rolled on. The wheels that used to be located at the bottom have also been removed. This new hinged gate design is also used throughout Season 4 * It is uncertain as to whether this redesign was made as a retcon for plot convenience, or whether it was designed as a practical effect, made to look as if the truck damages it as it smashes through. Regardless, the changes to the gate are visible before the truck makes impact.

2025-11-05 10:09:16 +0000 UTC* The title of the episode, "Welcome to the Tombs", refers to the Woodbury Army being ambushed in "The Tombs". * "The Tombs" (as called by T-Dog in S3EP4 "Killer Within") are a portion of the prison that is infested with walkers, as mentioned by Glenn and Carl in S3EP10 "Home" * The episode's exact runtime is 00:43:16. * This is the last episode written by Glen Mazzara * Andrea says, "I know how the safety works," to Rick when asking for his gun to commit suicide with to prevent her reanimation as a reference to S1EP5 "Wildfire" * Coincidentally, Amy was bitten by a walker on the neck, similarly to Andrea. However, Andrea prevented her reanimation by shooting her in the head while she reanimated. * She becomes the fifth main cast character to die and this is the second time that two main cast characters have died in successive episodes. * This season finale marks the first season finale in which Rick's Group is able to hold their own in their home and were not driven out by walkers or other survivors. * In S1EP6 "TS-19", the group was forced to leave the CDC before it exploded and in S2EP13 "Beside the Dying Fire", walkers overran Hershel's farm. * The Bible passage that was highlighted and found by the Governor is John 5:29; "And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation." They ended up being Andrea, Harrison, Milton, Mamet, Jody, Paul, Allen, Noah, and 20 Woodbury Soldiers * This episode begins with a close up of the Governor's eye that then zooms out which is homage to S3EP1 "Seed", where the episode begins with a closeup of a walker's eye before zooming out. * Dallas Roberts (Milton) is not credited in this episode * According to Woodbury extra William Tokarsky, the finale was supposed to be two hours long, and included scenes of him and other Woodbury soldiers being attacked and killed by Rick and Michonne in the tombs. * According to Woodbury extra Keith Barnett, there was a scene of him and three other Woodbury soldiers tripping and falling into a barbed wire trap set up in the tombs of the prison, however the scene was deleted. * This is the first season finale to feature a main character death. * It was given by Laurie Holden that Andrea wasn't originally to die in the episode, saying that Andrea was supposed to end up as the leader of Woodbury's people, filling up the Governor's boots but it was changed 3 weeks before the shooting of the episode began. "...everyone was shocked." Holden says in one of her interview, "But this is The Walking Dead, nothing is certain anymore." * The same as her death, the one that was aired was re-written by Scott Gimple, while the original (which was written by Glen Mazzara) shows Andrea got bitten by Milton on the hand while still bounded to the chair, screaming. In the end, Tyreese and Sasha were the ones who found her already bitten, and then two freed Andrea from the chair. Sasha then says that she won't leave her alone, but Andrea insists that Sasha give her the gun. Sasha gives what Andrea wants because, as given by Sonequa Martin-Green, it was her funeral, and Sasha would give her what she wants, so Sasha gives her the gun, and the two leave Andrea to commit suicide. The gunshot is then heard. * Andrea's death received a polarized reaction. For "Welcome to the Tombs", IGN writer, Eric Goldman disliked that the finale rested its dramatic conclusion on Andrea's death. AV Club writer, Zack Handlen said that Andrea would be "missed less" than Milton. Erik Kain of Forbes.com said that "Finally, Andrea is dead. I know this is something I've wished for all season, but it almost felt cheap at the end." Conversely, Josh Jackson, writing for Paste called the death "a heartbreaking end for the woman who tried to make peace between the two gangs of survivors." * Reports state that creative conflicts occurred primarily between Robert Kirkman and then-showrunner Glen Mazzara. Kirkman believed that Season 3's story pacing was too fast and that the show would catch up with the still ongoing comic book if it continued at the same pace. Kirkman also had an issue with how much Season 3 was deviating from the comic book story, which in turn would make the following seasons harder to adapt to television from the comic book source material. 2025-05-02 15:52:22 +0000 UTCThe only time I felt bad for Andrea was when she wanted to stay in the lab instead of be eaten because Dale didn’t have the right to pressure her out of that decision given the alternative potentially is be eaten alive and she had so many close calls before it ultimately happened. None of this would have happened if they left her in the lab. But everything else she’s done was super self centered and attention seeking. Lori clocked her tea about working on her tan. Andrea wanted Shane and then The Governor bc she wants whoever is in charge who is willing to do the bad things to make sure she’s cared for. That’s why Lori never fully let go of Shane. Bc if Andrea had him she could have convinced him to do the things that wouldn’t have been in Carl’s best interest.

It is not the time to extend grace! He had to go! And yea they could've talked to him to get his story, but why would they believe him? Anybody can lie, and saying "he made us come do this" sure sounds convenient. I'm with little Carl on this one. Carl once again standing on business.

2025-04-10 19:15:17 +0000 UTCi felt bad for milton…but not andrea lol she made her bed a long time ago. plus she had enough time to escape but she wanted to run her mouth yet again. if only milton woke up earlier and wasn’t so obvious about not being on the governors side anymore maybe he would have made it. i loved the group being tactical at the prison. guerrilla warfare works. also i don’t think carl had to kill that kid. he was surrendering. carl was angry and frustrated bc he wanted to fight in the prison but he wasn’t allowed to so that was his “revenge”. plus the kid ran away bc he was scared and didn’t want to fight in the first place. he was forcefully recruited. the barrel was pointed up, i think he wanted to hand them the gun he just didn’t know the right way to do it. like addison said he lacked the experience. he was no longer a threat when carl shot him. and ngl i think a part of carl always wanted to know what it was like to kill an actual person. plus he lied to try to justify killing him which means he knows that what he did was wrong. i appreciate herschel telling rick bc yes carl has to be hard, but he’s still young and developing. we don’t want him getting too hard too fast bc then he will end up more evil than good. i love the symbolism of carl having his fathers hat and badge. he’s had it since the farm when rick and him had the father son talk “no more kid stuff”. and like rick said in the beginning it’s hard to remember how young carl really is. he isn’t a man yet and he has alot to learn. he has to know right from wrong and when he needs to kill, bc he doesn’t always have to. i get his reasoning/trauma, when you don’t kill someone they come back and hurt you. but the problem is the discernment and knowing when and who to kill. also the governor is already a psychopath but killing all those people he forced to fight when they didn’t want to?! wilddddd. his body count has to be at LEAST 50 or more.

And he’s almost twice Carl’s size and got at least 5 years on him. If you’re being told to disarm, that ain’t the way to do it. You quickly put the gun on the ground, keep your hands in the air, and take a few long steps away from it. Think about this: if he’d suddenly come up on 4 armed grown men, do you think he would’ve done what he did, or what I described? Naw, this guy ran up on a kid, a one legged old man, and a small woman holding a baby. He’s totally sizing up his next move because of it.

When Andrea says that no one can make it alone now, Daryl doesn’t say, “I never could,” he says “THEY never could,” as in nobody can ever make it alone. Like, that would be such an awkward thing to say in that moment, that he never could, lol, why would anyone say it, let alone Daryl. Just had to say something because that made me cringe 😝

Think back to the beginning of the season when he was talking to her about the prisoners and what he should do with them. She told him to “Do whatever he thinks is best, and to do it with a clear conscious ” every time he seen Lori he was having internal conflicts with himself. Until the end when he brought back the people of Woodbury. That moment officially cleared his conscious. He was at peace. At least That’s how I’ve always perceived that moment.

If he really wanted to put the gun down he should have turned the opening in his direction, which is how you hand a gun over. I felt more for Michonne crying over Andrea than I did Andrea. Even after the betrayal Michonne still found it in her heart to forgive her, my girl better than me. Shumpert and Martinez is some sorry a$ses for watching that man kill those people didn’t even try to do anything and then they drove off with him. We started this season with a walker eye ball and ended the season at the start of the episode with the guvnor eye ball.

I really recommend that both of you check this series out. You can find it on Hulu or Prime. It is still one of my favorite shows. Another fun fact is the main character of the Maze Runner movie series Dylan O’Brian also got his start on the show Teen Wolf. His acting in that show especially in season 3 ( which is the best season/ Fan Favorite) is what put him on the map as an actor. I also want to recommend a really good movie that he acted in called American Assassin. If you like John Wick then you will really enjoy this movie!

A lot of kids who get abused will step up and push back eventually, especially when they reach a certain age and get a certain size, and the way it looked like they were getting beat to have lashes on their backs(I assume Merle had them too), I can definitely see teenage Merle, getting some height on him and maybe a little weight. And like you said, he'd most likely had already did a stunt in juvie since he was in juvie when his mom died, and he's been in juvie already before that instance. I can only imagine the rage teenage Merle had in him and he knew what could happen one day. That he'd probably blackout and beat his father to death in a confrontation, or snapping by pulling out a gun and ending it, so he left home...

Initial trip: All the people, their belongings, as many drivers with their cars filled with food/supplies as possible. Get them settled in Cell bock D - Tyress, Sasha, Glenn oversee that. Carl , Carol & Maggie on watch. 2nd trip (hours later) take some townspeople back to gather artillery, the tank, other vehicles, fuel, medicine/med equipment. 3rd trip: building materials to fortify the prison outer gates. Ain’t no reason them gates should be so flimsy.

The only ones left behind were the elderly, children, and probably those with disabilities and chronic conditions of some sort, which is who Tyrese & sasha were protecting. He even threw Karen's som who had asthma in the army or at least had him carrying a weapon(I have no idea what happened with that kid, but he's probably gone too)...

In the heat of the moment he absolutely could have gone too far either in defense of himself/Daryl OR he might’ve considered killing his dad while the man was drunk in front of the tv. Also, he’d been to juvy. Don’t you know that’s one of the things they tell victims of abuse? They say it to women to keep them from going back and they say it to teens to keep them from acting up outside the home (school fights/gangs/running away from foster fam etc).

2025-04-08 04:58:00 +0000 UTCSo, I read a long time ago that allegedly that the reason Andrea got killed off was because there was some issues between the actress, Laurie Holden and the showrunner at the time, Glen Mazzara. He had replaced the original showrunner, Frank Darabont, who was one of the actors from his previous work, like The Mist, onto the series with him. Jefferey DeMunn(Dale) quit the show out of loyalty to Darabont, maming his character killed of a lot sooner than he was meant to(if the show still had played out the same waybit does and kept the comic storyline, he would have made it to season 5). Laurie hated what Mazzara did to Andrea's character in season 3. She hated how much they deviated her character, who's a fan favorite and an important character in the comics, the whole Governor/Andrea, and felt that they basically did a character assassination the whole season, only to kill her off at the end was a slap in the face(honestly having Andrea keep pausing from trying to free herself whenever she talked to dying Milton as if her literal life wasn't in danger, she wasn't in a time sentive situation, and lack the ability to multitask somehow) was just absolutely terribly, lazy and contrived writing). She said she and the cast were sobbing and devastated when they got the script and saw Andrea was getting killed off(the actors don't know what's going to happen each episode, so they normally don't know if they're getting killed off until they read the script, which to me can be a bit problematic, but that save that for a later season to discuss). Allegedly, Mazzara, who took over as showrunner in the second half of season 2, didn't like Laurie as she was one of Darabont's people. She had a signed a 8 year deal, and was meant to get her comic story. According to Laurie, she said that Mazzara(who wrote this finale episode) didn't even write Andrea a real farewell. I think the crew were supposed to find her already dead and probably turned or something like that. He said that he wanted it to feel like no one was safe and gave consequences to what happened with everything that happened during season 3. He ended up admiting that he used deaths as a shock factor. Like T-Dogg's death was originally meant for Carol, and apparently he had to be talked out of killing off Carl. Mazzara officially left the show at the end of season 3 for "creative differences". I remember reading that he was actually fired what the stuff that he was doing and how they ended Andrea's character was supposedly the final straw(Robert Kirkman, the comic creator, said he was okay with Andrea's desth in the show). It was Scott Gimple, the one who wrote the episode "Clear" w/Morgan(and other eps), that actually wrote in Andrea's farewell scene with the crew to give her a proper send off, which she said at least appreciated. Scott Gimple ended up replace Mazzara for season 4 all the way until the end of season 8. Laurie still speaks about how hates how dirty she feels they did her and her character, Andrea. When she signed on with Darabont, she was supposed to get Andrea's comic story, but didn't outside of making her a great shot(Andrea ended up being the sniper in the crew in the comics, which another character ends up the badass shooter and taking that sniper role in the show). Again, this most of this is alleged and this was something I read YEARS ago, so I don't even remember where I even read it... On a real life heroic note: Over a year after leaving The Walking Deadklate 2014), Laurie Holden helped the CIA and Honeland Security by being part of a ragtag team of volunteers(including two crossfire instructors and a door to door salesman), going undercover for a sting operation to take down a Columbian Sex Trafficking Ring. They rescued 55 minors who were being trafficked, girls most in their early teens, but some even as young as 11/12 years old. 12 people were arrested during the sting operation...

When I first watched this episode, I felt like Carl was wrong, but in hindsight, I do understand his reasoning, and he is still a kid. I ain't mad at him. I'm glad Andrea is gone. She made the worst decisions, and Bandon is correct. She is at fault for everything that happened to her. It was totally preventable. Can't wait for the next season.

Apparently him and Laurie Holden ( Andrea's actress ) did not get along because he made unwanted advances towards her behind the scenes. As revenge, he purposefully ruined her character and killed her off. Originally she was supposed to be found dead in the woods randomly but AMC told him to rewrite it because it was THAT bad.| That's why her character arc this season makes zero sense and why it ended so stupidly. She deserved much better than what she got because her comic character is so damn amazing.

The town admin or something was his honey and we never see her after that scene 😂 I think it was great to take those people in. He changed, he left Brother Roadkill on the side of the road and now he is taking in those elderly, women and children cuz it's the right thing to do. The merciful thing to do. And Rick kept seeing Lori looking at what he was doing, but then he took in those kids etc and she was gone, his conscience was lifted. Was there jealousy from Merle with Daryl's relationship with Rick? I absolutely believe that. But Merle also felt like his brother was casting away his identity and individuality to serve Rick under that Ricktatorship. There's loyalty, but you should always have a boundaries that you don't allowed to be crossed, and what Merle was seeing with Daryl about the whole Michonne deal was blind loyalty. Daryl knew that it wasn't right and even expressed it, but he should stood his ground like Hershel, Daryl should have been able to stand his ground with Rick, but he didn't. Merle said. "You used to call people like that sheep". In my opinion, you should never have blind loyalty to another person like that, especially if you claim to have morals...

Notice that he didn't see Lori any longer when he looked up at the end. Carl is becoming a hardened killer as he reasons just like a child. Also, one of the few Talking Dead episodes I remember was the one that aired after this finale. Yvette Nicole Brown and Norman Reedus were guests. They called out how Rick looked at Michonne up & down when Rick said, "Maybe it was something else" when Michonne said 'you could have taken the formula'... "Richonne" shipping era by fans started after this finale. For me, this finale solidified the TWD trinity: Rick, Michonne and Daryl

But when the OG showrunner and writer Frank Darabont was fired after the 1st season (a dumb decision), a lot of storylines changed from what was originally planned.
