Comments

I miss this day so much 😭😭. Wouldn't change a thing. Went there just for him & ofc he made it so worth it. Btw the intro and the interlude (music box : reflection aka the music you heard at the end) are all actually included in the album. Jack in the box is such a masterpiece. Hope World too! πŸ’œπŸ‘πŸΌ

I’ll never look at J Hope the same after Lollapalooza. One of the best stage performers I’ve ever seen. Damn.

Thank you for doing this, I know this has to take so much of your recording time, but now you can see where the other armies suggesting this were coming from. Istg this performance was a cultural reset. As other people said, this concert includes performances from his solo album "Jack in the Box"(2022), his mixtape "Hope World" (2018), his solo tracks on BTS albums, like "Ego" and "Just Dance" and his collab with BeckyG "Chicken Noodle Soup". Now, a bit about Jack in the Box (JITB): this album, as you cleverly caught, has the concept of the Jack (the jester) finally coming out of the box and unleashing what's been hiding inside, the good, the bad, the ugly. The narration, in the beginning, was a parallelism between the concept he's explored already in the past, the myth of Pandora's box, and the new one, Jack in the Box. Briefly, the myth says that Pandora opened a box gifted to her and her husband by Zeus as a punishment to mankind that contained all the evil and pain, unleashing them to the world and right as she was about to fall into despair she found out that there was one last thing left in the box, which was hope, leaving to humanity the will to hope amid the sorrow and pain of life. The imagery is "grittier" in the album compared to his mixtape and has more rock elements. However, the lyrics in "Hope World" have a rather desperate feeling that collides with the acid colours and some of the upbeat and playful instrumentals, despite its name. It's the materialisation of his "persona" the happy-go-lucky J-hope, always smiling and being strong and hopeful for everybody around him. In JITB the jester comes out of his box, taking off his smiling mask and revealing all the stuff he compressed inside the box. It's not pretty, but at least he finally can be hopeful for a better future, where he's not the symbolic piece of peace for everybody, but a man of truth and change. The jester is a figure that has been found in history since ancient times, however, most notable are the medieval age and Renaissance time court jesters, who had the role of entertaining the noblemen and kings. The importance of this figure is that even though we remember them as just goofy clowns, they actually held a privilege that was unique to them to mock higher-ranked people and their actions and report bad news to the king himself. So the jester was the freest person in the court when it came to criticising the "system". J-hope is basically saying that not only he's not hiding his pain any more, he's also ready to take up the role that holds the privilege of speaking for the masses. He's been in our shoes, he knows how harsh life is and how rotten the world is, and he's in a position now where he can have a bit of influence to make a change.

Actually they do teach English in Korean schools! They are probably experts at grammar and theory, but the actual speaking and Listening part is difficult to most Koreans.
