This is the beginning of the next arc for the Deep Dream State audio drama. It draws heavily from the Lovecraft mythos. (Lovecraft is, of course, deeply problematic. The arc will account for that. There are ways of dealing with this as a writer beyond just compartmentalizing. I was a big fan of Lovecraft Country, and it’s a shame it wasn’t renewed.)
This is a different take. In most of the stuff I make, the audience is aligned with the mind controllers. It’s a guilty pleasure, but we’re let’s be honest. We’re all on Team Control.
In this instance, it’s ambiguous. The evil is really evil, not just id gone wild. The mains are truly sympathetic.
