Drawing Circus Photo-set: The Royal Pavilion Pt. 2

If you're new to the Draw Patreon (welcome, and thank you!), you might not have come across the Drawing Circus before. The Drawing Circus is an offshoot of Draw, a theatrical arm that would put on themed drawing events in unusual locations around the UK. For ten years our troupe of models and tutors traveled from studios to village halls, from meadows to palaces putting on drawing events intended to create intrigue and spark delight. Our largest events would see hundreds, and once, thousands of people drawing over the course of a day with dozens of models posing to live music from the Drawchestra. Back in 2020 we used photos from Drawing Circus events to kickstart the Patreon, although after three years without events new images are now thin on the ground. We'll be revisiting some of our earlier events to add to images that were not shared before and for todays post I thought we should return to Brighton's Royal Pavilion, the playground of George IV and one of our grandest locations. In this photoset I've selected new images that build on the first set we shared, with more pictures of the inside of the Music Room where the clowns cavorted beneath a chandelier taller than a house. Thom Novi also captured the night in this short film and the images here were taken by Nicolas Brekespeare, Mary Martin and Seqouia Ziff. I'm so glad that despite its dormant state, the Drawing Circus is still able to inspire people to draw - perhaps the distance from the events themselves provide the latitude to create even stranger and more wonderful narratives from the frozen memories.
