Frankie and I have been working together for so long that when we first met her hair was only at knee length. Her nom-de-cheveux on Instagram, Floorlength Frankie, hints at hair now being longer than she is tall and the growth of her hair has run in parallel with her own interest in the mythology & visual imagery associated with hair. When it reaches a certain length hair can seem to move a life of its own, its propensity for resisting decomposition in buried bodies imparting a supernatural role in folklore and popular culture around the world, from cousin Itt of Addam's Family fame to long haired Japanese Yūrei that inform the imagery of films like The Ring. In this photo-set Frankie plays the role of hair-ghost, faceless and haunting the stair cases and dark corridors of a neglected Victorian staircase. Send us your spookiest drawings, painting and animations of this photoset, we'd love to see them! We'll be holding a live online life class on the same theme this coming Wednesday HERE.
