Their tropey asses probably can't conceptualize a proper bromantic martial moment between a male and female cultivator. Also, given the way it was described after the match, it seems all of the MC's training came clutch here. The ease with which he cast elemental spells, his close quarters training, his eyesight allowing him to read her Earth technique, and the body cultivation that allowed his muscles and meridians to actually parry the blows. I'm guessing that to the theoretical readers reading from Xiao Fan's pov it merely seemed like a Jade Beauty effortlessly beating an Earth technique, whereas Xiao Fan had to bust his ass to barely match one. Still, this must have been impressive to the elders watching. To seemingly beat an Earth technique qithout having one of your own must be a sign that he's worth nurturing. After all, if he's this fierce NOW, imagine him with proper techniques and resources.
