Carolina was sitting in the stands while a professional football game played out in front of her. She looked over at the scoreboard. It was only five minutes into the second quarter. Carolina leaned back and sighed.
This was the last place she wanted to be, and as soon as she was able to, she get the heck out of there. Now one might wonder why she’s here if she doesn’t want to be. Was she dating a guy on the team?
Did she have a friend on it? Perhaps she was a cheerleader or part of the band, but no, it was none of those things. The reason Carolina is sitting here bored out of her mind actually has everything to do with magic, specifically a curse that was placed on her.
That curse made it so she had to be here, and it was placed on her by none other than her father and his twisted sense of humor. He happened to not only be a huge sports fan, but also a very powerful wizard, because of that, Carolina was born into a life of magic, and was a natural-born witch.
Much like him, she not only had a body that could store and produce massive amounts of mana, but she also had the natural talent to memorize spells and cast them without the need to recite them out loud.
While she was growing up, her father had taught her all he knew, and along with it, he tried to teach her his views on magic and how it should be used. His number one belief was that magic is a gift, and should always be used for good, to help people who need it.
His other core belief was that it should be used in secret and kept hidden from the world, as it could cause worldwide uproar and panic if people found out it was actually real, not to mention it would mean they’d be hunted down so countries could harness their power.
He also had one for sports, he absolutely loved them, and any chance he got he was attending a game, and he even made Carolina join several teams while she was younger just so they could spend time together while he watched sports.
When she was younger she followed his beliefs and believed in them herself, but as she got older, and as she got more powerful her views started to change, and soon enough she fell down the rabbit hole that is magic corruption.
She soon found herself believing that those with magic were better than those without it, that she was better than those without, and even some with it. She also believed that it should be used to dominate the world and rule.
To use it to strike down those who oppose her. Another thing she truly believed in was ending sports, she hated them. They were way too long, barbaric, and overall pointless. So one of her goals was to end them permanently.
Her father kept an eye on her as she started to change, and before he knew it her behavior was starting to worry him. So he tried to talk to her and even invited her to hang out together as they did, but he made one mistake, he asked her to meet him at a soccer game.
That set her off, and she challenged him to a duel, which was normally only used by enemy magic users, and really hadn't happened in a hundred years. He refused, but she attacked him anyway, so he defended himself and fought back.
After he’d won, she’d have no choice but to submit to his will, but she always vowed one day she’d win, and as the two got older, he only got weaker while she only got stronger, and the day came when she got the upper hand, and fatally wounded her father.
Now he was still an extremely powerful wizard and could have healed himself, but he knew it was pointless, she’d only try to strike him down again, and seeing as she was basically more powerful than him, he had only one chance to stop her before she went out of control.
He used every bit of his leftover mana to cast the most powerful multilayered curse on her that would be impossible for anyone to break. Luckily for him, Carolina was basking in her victory to notice him cast the spell, which meant she also couldn't dodge it.
When the curse hit her, she knew right away he had done something to her, and she looked at him and realized his mana was all gone. She walked over to him and asked him what it was he had done to her. He just smiled and said he protected the world from her.
He coughed up a bit of blood, wiped it with his hand, and looked at her. He told her how he used all his mana to cast a curse on her, one that would keep her from using her magic to harm people, while making it so she had to suffer and repent for her actions.
Carolina looked pissed and sternly asked him what he did. She even pointed her hand at him and was prepared to finish him off. He looked disappointed, as that made him realize he had truly lost her, instead of trying to save him, she was willing to kill him quicker.
His vision was starting to fade, so with the last of his breaths he explained her curse. The first part made sure she’d never use magic to harm a mortal, as the consequence of such an action would lead to her being trapped in a situation based on her worst fear.
The second part of the curse was something he found amusing, from now on, she’d have to attend one major league sports game a month, if she refused to do so, or even if she forgot, her magic would be sealed away, and she won’t be able to use it until she attends one.
His hope with this was she’d either give up on magic and not be a danger to the world, or keep her magic and learn to use it for good. He then passed on, while Carolina sat there staring at him with more rage inside her than she’d ever had before.
She made a new vow that day, and it was to break the curse. Of course, doing so was actually impossible since her father had poured all his mana along with his soul into the spell, and the only way to reverse it would be to sacrifice another soul, which she couldn’t do.
So here she was a year later, at her twelfth major league game, nearly dying of boredom. This was her penance, her only way to keep the magic that she held so dear, her magic that she could no longer use how she desired.
Carolina sighed again when the home team had thrown a sixty-yard pass to the end zone for a touchdown on fourth down. It was a wild play, one that wasn’t often done with seven minutes left in the second quarter.
Of course, such an amazing play caused the fans to go nuts, and the guy in front of Carolina jumped up, spilling his popcorn and throwing his drink into the air, when it came back down, it completely soaked Carolina, and the cup landed on her head.
Carolina’s pent-up anger burst and she waved her hand and put a simple hex on the guy to teach him a lesson for defiling her beautiful body in such a way. As soon as she finished it, her heart dropped as she realized how costly that truly was.
She instantly blacked out, and when she came to, she was on her knees, in a locker room, in a cheerleader uniform, and chained up tightly. Carolina began to panic and free herself, but the chains wouldn't budge and she could no longer use magic.
Carolina began to thrash around, and that was when she noticed a sign roped around her neck. She looked down at it, and it was upside down, but she was able to read it. "A present for team MVP, she will do whatever you ask her to". Carolina gulped this was really her worst nightmare.
She was magicless, stuck at a sports game, and soon the MVP would be here to claim her. Her father really did have a twisted sense of humor, but he was also willing to protect the world and give his daughter a second chance, it’s no one’s but her own fault she didn’t take it and will spend the rest of her new mortal life as a prize for the Mpv of different major league sports games.
