My name Is Brycena Olacooper. I'm nineteen years old and a knight in the Crystaltide army, I’m also the personal servant and sworn shield of Princess Cindyith Dobholland. Some time ago, the princess had visions of an evil that was coming to destroy the kingdom.
She sent me to find and aid the hero of light, and I think I found that hero. After an encounter with the dark deity that I believe is the one the princess warned me about, I received a blessing from the goddess of light, which gave me a massive power boost.
After that Leoslight and I traveled across the land to the location of the other half of the artifact. When we arrived at the location I was a little bit confused as it was just a cave entrance. Leoslight told me there was a large magical presence deep below, which was the artifact.
Leoslight asked if I couldn't sense it. I looked towards the cave, normally I wasn’t very good when it came to magic, but since I got the blessing from the goddess, I’ve felt more powerful in that aspect, and I could actually sense magic coming from the cave.
That wasn’t the only magical presence I could sense. There was something I’d never felt before, something dark, and it was coming towards us quickly from underground. I grabbed Leoslight and jumped into the air just in time.
Below us the ground exploded, rocks of various sizes scattered in the air. Some crashed into the side of the mountain, and some came right towards us. I jumped from rock to rock until the two of us were out of the clear and soaring in the sky above where the ground came up.
As we begin to fall we can see the cause of this. Down below us, there was yet another demon. This time it was a woman. Her white hair touched the ground, her eyes were bright and yellow like the sun, horns poked through her hair on the top, and a tail popped out through the bottom.
She looked up at us with a devious smile on her face, like she was hungry, perhaps lusting for something, for us perhaps. I was preparing to fight her, but I noticed something from the corner of my eye. Leoslight was staring right at me and blushing.
I became slightly more aware that was was holding them, and got incredibly embarrassed. Leoslight chuckled and thanked me for the save. They then broke away from my arms and pulled out their lance.
They then pointed the lance towards the demon and began to spin like crazy as they began plummeting down towards the ground. Leoslight clashed with the demon, who simply used her arm to block Leoslight’s lance thanks to their tough skin.
The shock wave sent me flying backward, but I managed to land on my feet. I then looked towards the battle. Both of them had such strong auras now that they were fighting with all they had. It was almost terrifying.
They were in a whole new league than what I’d faced before this. I thought there was no way I could help, never mind keep up with them, but then I felt it. Something deep inside me started to shine, and it shone brightly.
The light burst out from within and I felt my power surge. I felt that power all over my body, but there was one spot it seemed to be focusing on. That was my hand, it felt as though something was trying to come out.
I closed my eyes and tried to focus on it, to see what it was it was trying to do or become. That’s when I felt something appear in my hand. I opened my eyes to see that I had summoned a great sword, one with a bright glowing blade.
I couldn’t believe it, a weapon made from pure magic, from pure light. I lift it up and swing it around, as heavy as it looked, it was almost weightless, as if it would float away if I let go of it. I suppose it was made of light, which was what I needed to fight against the dark.
I ready my new weapon and turned my gaze toward the demon. I began to run, and I immediately noticed I was much faster than I was before I got the blessing. It took me only a split second to reach the demon from where I was.
I was so fast that neither Leoslight nor the demon noticed that I was behind her. While the demon held Leoslight’s lance and was mocking him, I drove my greatsword through her body. She screamed out and turned her head towards me.
She was screaming at me but then stopped. Her face was overcome by fear as she looked at me and sensed my new power. Leoslight also looked quite surprised, perhaps because he was barely able to pierce her skin, and I had just come over and stabbed right through her.
I pulled my greatsword out and prepared to finish the job, but the demon suddenly jumped away. Despite the hole in her torso she seemed to be moving completely fine. Once the fear settled down, her expression changed to that of anger.
She reached her hand up and darkness spewed from her hand and formed a demon blade. She pointed it at me and told me her master had ordered I be killed no matter the cost. She then swung her sword, sending a beam of dark energy towards me.
It moved nearly as quickly as I was, but I was able to slash the beams which sizzled them out. She then went on the offensive and charged me. Her attacks were all focused on my vital organs, she was intent on killing me, and in one blow.
I was able to deflect her attacks back by using my greatsword as a shield, but as close as she was, I couldn't swing the sword at all. It was basically a stalemate. Luckily I had something the demon didn’t and that was Leoslight.
They had watched the fight between us thus far feeling a bit like I had before, but Leoslight knew they had to act. So they summoned their full power like I did. Leoslight’s power though wasn't like mine, it was like the demons, it was dark, wild, and angry.
Despite that, they got a significant power boost becoming stronger than the demon and me with the light blessing. Leoslight began to attack the demon with as much fury as she had attacked me with. She once again looked fearful, and she asked Leoslight why the hell they were fighting seriously.
Leoslight didn’t respond and continued to attack her. She was back on the defensive which was good for me, that meant I could attack again. I ran behind the demon and attempted to cut her, she noticed me and tried to move, but I still landed a hit, cutting her tail and left foot off.
She screams out, lands on the ground, and rolls until she stops. I pointed my sword at her ready to accept her surrender, but Leoslight just walked towards her. They then took their foot and kicked the demon in the head, once again sending her flying.
While in the air, Leoslight aims his lance and throws it at her. It pierced her body and pinned her to the side of the mountain. I had a bad feeling and ran over to them and asked what they were doing, she was clearly beaten.
Leoslight just looked up at her with this serious look on their face. They watched her for a minute and then suddenly grabbed me, shielding me with their body. After that, an explosion of dark energy burst from the demon.
It only lasted seconds to pass by us, and when Leoslight let me go, I looked around to find everything around us had been vaporized. I was shocked, nothing was saved from it. There was a massive crater on the ground and side of the mountain.
The trees, wildlife, and even the pond nearby were all gone. I get up and take a step forward. Even with the blessing of light, I’d probably have died or been in serious condition. I let my greatsword vanish and quell my power, and that was when I realized.
Leoslight had taken that full blast. I turn around and look at them. Leoslight was pretty banged up and their energy was quite weak, almost gone. I saw their eyes close and they began to fall over. Without thinking about it I jumped to them and caught them.
