A commission for last_of_workers!
Marksmen, J.I. also known as Jacob Ingram. In terms of physical appearance and capabilities, he’s not very impressive, no more than a typical O.R.B. foot soldier. He’s six foot three, but very slim weighing only about a hundred and fifty pounds, and has long tangled hair and dark blue eyes.
Now while not very muscular or fast, and lacking in skills, he makes up for that with a unique gift that he has. He calls it his superior intuition, but in reality, this gift was actually the ability to peer into the near future.
Using that he’s able to alter what he sees by deciding to do something differently. For example, if you put three cups in front of him, and put a marble under one, had him turn around and you mixed it all up. He’d guess it right every time.
Simply because if he decided to pick one and it was wrong, he’d basically see it and be able to choose another, then another if needed until correct. Even with a thousand cups he was able to guess correctly on the first try.
That’s a valuable skill because it ensures he always gets the desired outcome he wants. He used to use this to scam people as a child. He’d always pretend to be possessed and that’s how he got informed about people he was scamming.
In reality, he just saw futures after they found out he was lying, they revealed true information about themselves. In the end, he always managed to get a couple of bucks off of each of his marks. He did thin into his adult life when suddenly O.R.B. found him standing in the middle of their facilities.
It turns out his gift showed him coming there, and helped him break in by telling him all the security codes. Normally intruders were killed on sight, but he had to be studied, and if he was offing to work for O.R.B. there was no way they would let this chance pass them by.
He joined O.R.B. and in turn, O.R.B. tried to replicate his ability and use it for themselves, but every attempt was met with failure. His power wasn’t a natural biological thing, but instead some sort of supernatural phenomenon, and thus couldn’t be replicated.
So that was eventually scrapped and Jacob was placed in a new position where he would be more useful. Of course, he knew before anyone at O.R.B. where he would be placed, that being the Global Infiltration Revenge Legion.
There he trained to develop his ability, as long as training to use a sniper, which was a perfect weapon for the person with the ability to never miss. He along with the rest of his team went to the Realm Of Orbs on a mission, and one wonders if he knew they wouldn’t come back. Status, MIA.
While the rest of her team was looking at each other confused, Jaylene knew exactly what had happened to them. She even knew all about her current self. She was now an eighteen-year-old high school student named Jaylene Iacona.
Jaylene had seen this future when they first entered the Realm Of Orbs, and while she did try to change the outcome at first, she quickly realized this was the best outcome for her and her team. So she let it happen, though if her team asks, she’ll lie and say the genie messed with her power.
Jaylene wasn’t listening to her team leader, but she already knew that he was activating protocol 404, which was intended for cases like adopting their new identities and blending in until the time came to escape, except, Jaylene had a pretty good reason to believe that won't happen.
Jaylene left the locker room and started to quickly walk down the halls looking for a certain room. She knew it was club time and there was one that her new self was a part of that she was super excited for.
Jaylene made her way to a classroom that had all the curtains closed and the lights off. She walked inside and the door closed suddenly. Then a bunch of flashlights turned on and several people popped out yelling boo trying to scare her.
Jaylene laughed and clapped for them calling them quite scary. They all seemed bummed that yet again they didn’t even make the great unscareable Jaylene flinch. Jaylene told them that she’d seen a lot of supernatural things, and they’d have to try really hard to scare her.
Which was actually true, just in her old life. She then grabbed one of the flashlights and started to tell the tale of when she and her team hunted down a werewolf that was capable of teleporting. She told them about how she used her intuition power to lure it into a trap.
It had teleported on top of her and cut her face, but that allowed her team's heavy weapons expert to grab it and crush its ribs, ending its rampage. Jaylene then turned the light away from her face and pulled up the eyepatch she had to reveal her red-colored eye.
She told them that was how she got it, which again was true in her own world, but in this one, she seems to remember an accident with some chemicals spilling into her eye and causing it damage. Now her eye is super sensitive to light, which is why she wears an eyepatch now.
It was one thing that may have been nicer about working for O.R.B. After her eye was damaged they replaced it with one that looked identical to her other, so she got to keep her cool-looking blue eyes, but honestly, she still had both eyes, so it wasn’t that bad and she’d adjust.
After showing off her eye, the lights in the room turned on and Jaylene fell backward while closing her eyes. She got her eyepatch back on and pouted as she looked towards the door. She looked over and saw a guy holding some sort of strange device.
Jaylene remembered him as the tracker in their club, and that device he had measured irregular static from magic and supernatural beings in the air. He said it had been going off like crazy and he followed it here.
He then walked up to Jaylene and everyone listened as the device got louder and louder. He then pressed it against Jaylene’s arm, and she felt very light shocks go into her body from the device. Suddenly Jaylene’s super long hair started to float up.
Everyone in the club was freaking out, a mixture of excitement and fear as they thought Jaylene was being possessed. Jaylene was just impressed with her hair all floating up. It really did make her look like a spooky being. She took note of that, as she could make use of her hair's natural floatiness.
The guy removed the device and started to ask Jaylene questions to make sure she was who she said she was, and that she wasn’t possessed. Jaylene was able to answer all of his questions about their club and herself thanks to the memories and answers just appearing in her head.
Once they knew she was safe, they began to ask about what she was just doing, as they believed she came into contact with a supernatural being. They were right of course, Jaylene had just gone to war with a genie and lost, and as a result, ended up as a schoolgirl in another world.
So Jaylene made up a different tale, about how she was in the locker room alone checking out a hunch she had about a potential new ghost in the school. She said she went into the showers and suddenly they all turned on and the room started to fill with steam.
There through the steam, she saw a figure, and it began to scream and charge at her. It was just a shame the ghost chose the wrong person to mess with, as after her accident, Jaylene's red eye was supernatural and when the ghost tried to possess her, it was instead forced out.
She then said she tried to contain it, but using her supernatural power was quite exhausting and the ghost escaped and disappeared. She then said she’d continued to hunt it and make sure it got out of their school.
The rest of the club was in awe and saying how cool she was, while the guy with the device was reeling from not being able to be there. He said he would adjust his device and try to find out where the ghost was. He even mentioned there were five other singles like the one coming from Jaylene.
Jaylene let out an awkward laugh, as she knew it was her teammates. She told the guy to do so, but discreetly. They didn’t want to alert the ghost that they were onto it until they were sure who it was possessing. He nodded and said he would scout from afar.
Jaylene let out a sigh of relief, at the very least that’ll give the team time to let the remnant magic vanish and that guy won't suspect anything from them anymore. Jaylene looked around the room and was amazed at how many members such a niche club had.
She suddenly remembered when she formed the club, no one wanted to join and she was on the verge of being forced to disband, but then suddenly a ton of people joined and were excited to join her hunt for anything supernatural, now it’s one of the most popular clubs.
Of course, they haven’t found any actual evidence of anything supernatural, and Jaylene was not even sure such things existed in this world, but that's part of the fun, they can easily pass off blurry photos of animals, or people getting red eyes in photos as some sort of proof.
They’re definitely not above faking it a bit, mostly because it’s fun to pull pranks on people and convince them these things are real. After hanging out with her clubmates for a bit more time and talking about what they were tracking, it was time to go home.
Jaylene began to walk home, still smirking about her messing with her friends and wondering what kind of supernatural thing they were going to do for the school festival coming up. Perhaps they could get a real-looking yet suit.
Or perhaps they’ll dress in white and use pale white makeup, cover the stage in smoke, and act like ghosts. Jaylene stopped in front of her house and smiled. Perhaps they should put on a real show and perform some sort of ritual. They would really freak people out.
Jaylene laughed as she entered her home and walked inside. Jaylene walked inside and dropped her bag. She then turned and faced a photo of a man. Jaylene already knew who he was as well, but suddenly she had a wave of memories with him flow into her mind.
She genuinely felt sad, but then happy as she thought about her father. His name was Niko, he was a firefighter and he was an amazing person and incredibly brave. Unfortunately, he passed away several years ago when a fire broke out in a large office building.
The building collapsed on top of him, and they weren't able to get him out in time to save him, but he did save nearly a hundred people with his sacrifice, and to this day he’s still remembered as a hero. Jaylene greeted him and then walked into the kitchen.
There she saw her mother Yuliana cooking dinner, and her younger sister Nia placing plates and silverware for them to use. Jaylene greeted both of them and went to sit at the table. Jaylene played around with Nia, then she started to tell another tale about a creature she once fought.
After some time her mother came walking over while saying that Jaylene had such a wild imagination and that she should start writing these things down, as they’d make for an excellent book. Jaylene let out a sigh and told her mother that these things were real.
To be fair though, it’s possible they don't exist in this world, but Jaylene refused to accept that, as the fun of hunting for them was too good to give up. She did however agree with her mother about writing this stuff down, or better yet recording her adventures.
She suddenly remembered her dad having an old video camera in the basement and asked her mother if she could have it. Her mother said yes, but that she could grab it tomorrow. For now she was to finish dinner, go upstairs, shower, and get ready for bed.
Jaylene sighed, but that was fair. She did have school tomorrow and dinner smelled amazing, and if she learned anything from her old life, it was to take a meal when you could because you never knew when the next one was coming, and take advantage of any rest you could get.
Jaylene ate her dinner, thanked her mom for cooking it, and then said goodnight to her family and went upstairs. She showered, dried off, looked through her potential supernatural photos on her phone, as well as the ones with her new friends,s\ and smiled.
Then she realized something. She had no idea what was going to happen next. Tomorrow was unknown to her. She sat up and kept trying to activate her ability, but it seemed to be gone. Jaylene held her head confused.
She hadn’t tried to use it all day because she had already seen most of today when she was in the Realm of Orbs. On top of that, there was no real danger or need to use it, as everything she needed to know was already seemingly in her head.
Jaylene sat back and looked up at the ceiling. It was sort of scary suddenly not knowing what was going to happen, yet at the same time she was excited. Things could surprise her, and perhaps her members actually stood a chance at scaring her now, though she still doubted it.
Jaylene was unsure how she felt about her power being gone, it was nice in some instances and horrible in others, but she sort of wished she could use it one more time to know how her team would take it if she admitted she didn’t want to go back to their old world.
She sighed, she was going to have to tell them and see what happened, good or bad, she’d have to deal with it. However, she doesn’t want to make things awkward for now, so perhaps it would be better for her to wait until after the school festival.
