A Girl's Dream (Com)

 A commission for WildCirno

It was late at night at the Saint Olivia hospital. Most people were asleep, but there was one woman wide awake looking up at the ceiling, slowly losing all hope. Her name is Sapphire, and she’s a twenty-four year old transgender woman.

Her entire life has been one long fight. From the abuse of her childhood to discovering and exploring that she was trans and all the attacks from hateful idiots that came with it, all the way up to her current battle, which looked as though it was going to win.

Sapphire had been in the hospital for the last few weeks with some unknown disease. The doctors have been trying to figure out what it was so they could save her, but all the tests have come up short, and she’s running out of time.

Whatever it was that she had was slowly working her way through her system and shutting down her body part by part, and soon the ventorators and other equipment wouldn’t be enough to keep her alive.

Sapphire found it very unfair. Why her? Why did she have to fight and suffer over and over again? All she’s ever wanted was to live a happy, free life as her true self, as a woman, one who loved to sing and maybe, just maybe, the world would fall in love with her songs.

That would never come now; even if by some miracle she got through this, the doctors already said it did irreversible damage to her body, and there was a good chance she wouldn’t be able to speak, nevermind sing.

So her dreams were just that dream. Sapphire closed her eyes and started to picture it all in her head. She’s perfectly healthy and walking out on stage wearing a beautiful two-piece dress. She’s all dolled up and the crowds are going wild.

She walks up to the microphone and poses for them, which makes them go wild with waving their arms and cheering. She grabs the mic and tells the crowd how much it means to her that they came all this way to listen to her sing.

The band behind her starts to play and she begins to sing one of the many songs she wrote herself, all of which are happy pop songs. She’s dancing around having a blast and everything in the world feels amazing in that moment.

It was so nice, and she wished more than anything that it was the life she had. Sapphire starts to drift to sleep, and as she does, she hears a voice call her name. It said something about hearing her wish and how beautiful it was. It then said it would grant it for her.

She thought it was just her mind playing tricks on her as she drifted off to sleep, but as soon as she fell fully asleep, she woke back up and found herself inside some sort of changing room. Sapphire stood up and looked down at herself.

She was amazed not only to find that she could stand, but that there were no machines or needles hooked up to her. Sapphire looked around the room, which was filled with music notes, makeup, clothes, and even some food, and was confused about where she was or how she got here.

She ran over to the mirror and looked at herself, and she couldn't believe what she was seeing. She looked so incredibly feminine now and like a whole new person. She sat down and touched her face. She had a bit of makeup on, and at first she thought that was why she looked so different.

However, she only had a bit on, things like mascara and eyeliner, lipstick, and some blush. Everything else was just her face. Sapphire moved her hands up to her hair, which was now much longer, wavy, and blonde.

It was so soft and smelled amazing, which was much different than it was moments ago, as she hadn’t been able to wash it in weeks, and the disease she had was slowly killing her hair and making it fall out.

Sapphire moved her hands and gazed down toward her chest, which now had actual breasts on it. Sapphire had always wanted them and wanted to start hormone replacement therapy, but before she could, she got sick.

Sapphire suddenly realized it made no sense for her to have them and decided to check one last spot to see if that voice was serious. Her eyes lit up wide as she pushed her legs together and confirmed there was nothing between her legs.

Sapphire let out a gasp as her hands went back up to her face and she excitedly yelled that she was a woman. Sapphire mumbled a lot of words quickly due to her excitement about it, but then stopped and looked at the mirror again.

As happy as it made her, there was no way this was real. She decided to pinch her arm to see if it was a dream, but it hurt when she did. She then looked back at herself, really confused. It hurt so she wasn't asleep, so what was going on?

Did that voice really grant her wish? If so, does that mean this is her dressing room? Sapphire got up and walked over to the costume rack and started to go through it, and that’s when she found the exact blue two-piece dress she was fantasizing about.

Sapphire let out a happy giggle as she took it and quickly changed into it. Once it was on, she stood in front of a full-body mirror and posed in the dress. It was a bit tight, but it felt so good. It showed off her feminine body and looked so cute.

She posed a few more times before turning around and looking at the music notes lying around. She walks over and picks one up, and she was even more thrilled to find that it was one of the songs she had written before things got really bad in the hospital.

The song was called “A Girls Dream.” It was about a girl who sets off on a tough journey to follow her dreams and in the end she not only reaches her goals but also finds love not only in herself but from those around her.

The song was about her, and at the time it was just something she wrote to give herself hope and something to look forward to when she got better. She had basically forgotten all about it a month ago when the doctors were telling her that the tests weren't helping.

Seeing it again and it being the first song she picked up felt intentional. As if whatever kind voice found her in that hospital bed and told her it was granting her wish, wanted her to see it, wanted her to know this was real.

Sapphire held the page against her chest and started to cry with a smile on her face. She looked up at the ceiling again and told the voice, if it could hear her, she was beyond thankful for the gift it gave her, and she’d live each moment full of joy.

The voice didn’t respond to her, but Sapphire swore she heard a happy sound in her head. So she took that as her sign, and the voice approved. Sapphire then looked in the mirror and realized crying ruined her makeup, and from the looks of it, she’ll soon be on stage.

Sapphire ran over to her makeup table and sat down. She cleaned her face and redid all her makeup, making it look just as good as it did when she woke up. She then checked her makeup, hair, and dress one last time before someone knocked on the door.

Sapphire told them to come in, and it turned out to be the manager of the stage crew telling her it was show time. Sapphire jumps up, once again so excited she was giggling with joy and gleefully goes to run out the door.

The stage manager stopped her and told her she wasn’t wearing shoes. Sapphire let out an awkward laugh and thanked him for reminding her. She then went and grabbed an amazing pair of heels that matched her outfit, and then finally ran out of the door and towards the stage.

Just like in her dream, she went up to the microphone and posed, listened as the crowd went wild, and then she grabbed the microphone. She thanked the crowd for showing up and went more in depth about how much it meant to her than she did in her dream, and she had to resist crying again.

Once she was done, the music started, and Sapphire finally got to sing for the world and make her dream come true. She started with singing “A Girl's Dream." She had never been as happy in her life as she was in that moment and as she'd be in every moment to come afterward.

Yeah, I think it's nice to see as just a wholesome story. C:

Well... it's just a very good, bright and warm story that's nice to read... No more, no less... I just don't know what else to say here... I can only be happy for Sapphire and that she fulfilled her dream... And I don't want to look for any deep subtext here, I'm just not in the mood for it
