Deepspace: Nyco Captain of the Phoebe Sky? (Ea)(Com)

A commission for last_of_workers

Nyco was flying through deepspace just exploring the area a bit, when suddenly his ship, the Red Gaspra, started to break down and have critical failures, and eventually it stopped flying. Luckily a friend of his was nearby and Nyco sent a message to them.

They then towed the Red Gaspra back towards the entrance of deepspace where one of the only repair stations is located. Along the way, Nyco tried his best to figure out what happened, as normally he flies very seriously and with great care.

He was unable to do so, and the repair technician whom Nyco took it to see said it was a near hopeless repair but one that was possible with enough credits. It was a lot of money, almost everything Nyco had saved.

However, to Nyco it was worth it; he and the Red Gaspra had been through so much together. They met so many years ago when Nyco was a pilot for the 2nd fleet commanded by the Blue House, and over the course of several years, Nyco moved up the ranks and became its captain.

They then worked together for many more years until the Red Gaspra was set to be decommissioned and Nyco was given an early retirement. Not wanting the ship he grew up in and commanded for so long to be destroyed, Nyco took that instead of a retirement package.

Despite being older at the time, it was still a massive fighter ship, with extremely powerful weapons and armor, albeit at the expense of autonomy. To do anything on the ship, especially now that he’s alone, Nyco has to change the systems his main console is connected to.

So one minute he could be flying and then quickly change to controlling the turrets while the ship continued to fly forward without input, which is a bit dangerous, but since he decided to take it to deepspace, it wasn’t all that bad, since there aren’t many fights out there.

Nyco did think about buying some robots to operate certain systems, but he kept pushing it off, and several years after entering deepspace and he still hadn’t gotten around to doing it. Perhaps if he had, his precious ship wouldn’t have died on him.

Nyco talks with the repair tech a bit and after paying for the repairs, the tech takes Nyco and brings him to another ship to use while waiting for the repairs. The ship was a small, basic fighter called the Phoebe Sky.

It wasn’t great, but it was good enough to use to make some more money, which Nyco needed right now. So he took the ship and went off into deepspace to start searching for something of value to grab and bring back to sell.

Not long after leaving the repair station, Nyco got alerted to a distress signal. Nyco listened to it and was surprised to hear the name Zeta-13. Nyco himself never went there, but he had heard stories from the 3rd fleet, who went there to rescue the people there.

It was apparently a hell hold of anomalies that caused anything to happen, and only someone crazy would go there, which Nyco didn’t consider himself, but in this situation, he also knew Zeta-13 had a lot of valuable stuff stored on it still, as well as important military and cooperation secrets.

He may be retired, but Nyco was a proud soldier and pilot and took his duties to heart. So he couldn't let those secrets get taken by random looters, and also managing to get something to sell would really help him out, so he started to make his way.

As expected, the place was full of anomalies that could kill a careless person; luckily, Nyco flew every ship the same, with incredible skill and a serious attitude towards his situation. Even in a less suitable ship definitely not made for deepspace like the Phoebe Sky.

At least the ship was fully autonomous, so the shield and weapons worked themselves, which did help Nyco out a lot, especially since he found himself suddenly flipped a few times by the anomalies, not to mention nearly flying through strands of hair that were hundreds of feet long.

The shields helped him when he flipped as he sometimes hit things, and the weapon was able to blow up the hair before Nyco flew into them and got tangled, and whether by some miracle, luck, or simply his skill, Nyco landed the Phoebe Sky on the space station above Zeta-13.

He met with the other captains and enjoyed a moment of rest before the real showdown began. Nyco took count of how many people made it, and with ten other people to race against, this was going to be a tough place to claim.

Luckily, Nyco was a seasoned warrior as well as a pilot and had fought in several different wars, so these greenhorns had nothing on him. Of course no one could be prepared for the space station, along with the orbital elevator, to vanish out of thin air.

Everyone and their ships started to fall towards the ground, and one by one each captain called their ship to save them. Nyco thought he was screwed until he remembered he was using the Phoebe Sky currently, which could be summoned manually.

He quickly did so, and thanks to being a small ship, it was able to start up quickly and catch him before he became a spot on the surface. Nyco then had it land on the ground while he laid on top of it catching his breath and being sort of thankful that he wasn’t in his original ship currently.

Though he still missed it and would go back to it afterward, this just made it clear to him he was going to have to make major upgrades for future use, but he’d worry about those after he claimed Zeta-13 and got rich.

As Nyco sat on top of his temporary ship with his eyes closed, he suddenly passed out. When Nyco woke up, she sat up, stretched her arms and wings out and yawned as if she woke up from a nice nap. Nyco then stood up and looked around.

Her ship was nowhere to be seen, as well as the other pilots. Which was strange. Nyco crossed her arms as she normally did when she got deep in thought; however, this time it was a bit different. Her arms ended up under a set of small bumps that now seemed to be on her chest.

Nyco looked down at them and was met with quite a surprise. She had a pair of breasts now, along with a ton of mechanical implants. Nyco was never the one for such implants, but now it seemed her new body was filled with them.

Both of her arms had metal plating with what seemed like some weapons stored inside them. Her left arm seemed to store several types of blades, while her right arm seemed to be some sort of gun capable of firing different types of bullets.

Her right leg was also mechanical from the pelvis down, and as far as Nyco could tell, it had a blade in the toes, and the bottoms of her feet seemed to be able to shoot fire out of them, either to help her guide herself when jumping or perhaps as a secret weapon.

Her left leg was mechanical from her lower thigh down. It seems to store several small grenades that can be pulled out by hand or launched by simply kicking her leg up and aiming it, turning her leg into a grenade launcher.

Nyco then pressed on her stomach, looking for more implants. While her entire torso was still human, she could feel that some of her internal organs were now mechanical, which was likely why she felt like she had a ton of energy.

Nyco patted herself down until she got to her back, where she found her spine had been replaced as well. It was now mechanical and likely nearly impossible to break, which isn't all that bad, but it also has another use.

Nyco found herself with new parts, The first being a long, skinny tail that could shoot out spikes from the tail and the second being a pair of energy wings. The wings themselves just sit on her back, but she seemed to be able to send energy to them in order to lift herself off the ground.

Or even better, she could send a lot of energy to cause herself to soar through the sky. The last thing she noticed was her eyes. Neither of them were biological. Both were mechanical and seemed capable of not only shooting small lasers but also seeing in the dark as well as scanning things.

Some people might be pretty thrilled at getting so many expensive upgrades for free, but Nyco felt off. She felt as if she was a guest in her own body. It just felt wrong, which was a bit irritating to her, but as of now there was nothing she could do about it.

What she could do is what she’s always done as a soldier, pilot, and commander. She’ll adapt and make things work until she gets back to safety and can fix these problems. Right now her mission was clear: claim Zeta-13, find her temporary ship and get back to her real ship.

Hopefully then she can save up money and have a new body made for herself or something like that, or get used to her new body, but she had the feeling that wasn’t going to happen. Nyco stood tall and focused on her wings.

Her body started to send energy to them and she floated off of the ground. She then had them send more energy and she shot straight up into the air, nearly going back into space. Luckily she activated her foot and used the flames to steer herself around.

It took a bit to figure out exactly how to fly, but after crashing into the sand a few times, she managed to get the hang of it, and with that, she was off towards the center of Zeta-13 to find out what treasures and perhaps what other anomalies there could be.

I think out of the characters, she's one of the coolest-looking ones, maybe because I think wings are cool, but I don't know.

Nyco... we can only sympathize with her fate... imagine that one day you wake up and find yourself in another body and not just another, this body makes you feel uncomfortable and you have nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, your body rejects you... I think that if someone else were in Nyco's place, everything could have ended very sadly, but she is made of a different text, she will not give up so easily, she will reach the end, because she is a real warrior, of which there are few!
