After landing on the space station above Zeta-13, nearly dying falling to the surface after an anomaly caused the space station to vanish, and finally another anomaly causing her to fuse with her ship, Briyelle made her way towards the center of Zeta-13.
She had a pouty look on her face as she pressed her chest and continued to be disappointed about being much smaller now thanks to the anomaly that caused her to fuse with her ship. She was suddenly taken out of her own head when she found a random building in the middle of nowhere.
She heads inside and looks around. She was surprised to find that the facility was connected to the power grid. Briyelle was still waiting for her cooldown since she inadvertently used her jump skip ability before.
She wanted to see if she could connect to a power source and recharge so she could use it again instead of risking extreme fatigue or emergency rest mode. Briyelle took a wire out of her arm and connected it to the main console.
She then started to pull energy out of it, and it did work, but Briyelle found out that it was quite uncomfortable and sometimes painful. At one point a sudden spike of pain caused her legs to give out, and she fell onto the floor.
Luckily she didn’t need to stay plugged in for long, but she was going to try and avoid gaining energy in this way, unless, of course she was in dire need. After charging, Briyelle continued to look around and eventually found an elevator.
She hopped inside and looked at the button. She read the list, and it seemed going down to floor three hundred would bring her to an area called the tunnels, which sounded like a way to quickly travel around.
So she hit the button, and the elevator started to go down. It was quiet for a bit until an anomaly decided to appear out of nowhere. I came in with a flash and left as quickly as it came, taking the elevator and a couple hundred feet around the elevator with it.
Luckily, wherever all that stuff went, it didn’t take Briyelle with it, though, unluckily for her, she was once again falling. She was about to teleport to a spot that was revealed by the hole left by the anomaly, but she then had a better idea.
Instead of getting lost on a random floor, she was going to use her one skip to teleport through the door to the right floor. Briyelle continued to fall for nearly twenty minutes, but when she saw floor two hundred and ninety, she got herself ready to skip.
She counted down one by one, and when she saw a three, she activated her skip jump and went through the elevator door. She landed on the other side of the door and rolled across the ground at a great speed, only stopping when her body slammed into a train car.
Briyelle lay there for a minute groaning from the pain but managed to pick herself up and look around. She ended up where she wanted, but there were a few problems. The train car was damaged when she slammed into it, not that it mattered since it wasn’t being powered.
Briyelle made a fist with her hands and cursed out the anomalies for dropping her again. She then went towards the rail line. It was open, and she could walk across it, which was good, though she would have preferred letting the train do the work.
Luckily she’s much quicker now, so if she starts running, she should hopefully get to the main command station of Zeta-13 in no time. Briyelle jumps down and starts running as fast as she can, and quickly she realizes this was likely better due to how fast she was.
Things were looking up, and it felt like she was actually going to be able to run right to the main command center and claim Zeta-13 as her own; however, the further she ran, the more she started to notice anomalies around her.
It was small things like a swarm of flies appearing and then exploding, or the rails in the other tunnels going from metal to pure diamonds. It was a bit worrying, but it seemed they were getting smaller and more minor, at least where it seemed.
As she was running, an anomaly occurred right in front of her, and a train came speeding out of it towards Briyelle. She panicked and used her skip jump to enter the tunnel to her left. Briyelle was still in cooldown, so she was feeling extremely fatigued and was having a hard time moving.
She was about to stop and connect to a nearby wall and hoped there was some power flowing to it, but another anomaly occurred in the new tunnel, and once again another train started flying towards Briyelle.
Briyelle knew she couldn’t skip again or she’d pass out, so she started running with everything she had. She was still able to run fast, but with extreme fatigue affecting her, she was starting to slow down, which meant the train was close to running her over.
She was a bit panicked and was trying to think of a plan. In the end, she knew she had to use her skip again, which would put her in emergency rest mode until she recovered energy. She just needed to pick where to go.
Nowhere seemed like a good choice since she’d be exposed in the open areas or stuck on the tracks. There was only one place that offered any sort of protection: inside the very train chasing after her.
Briyelle gulped, closed her eyes, and used her skip. She had no idea if she made it inside at first, as she passed out during the skip, but after several hours in rest mode, she woke up. She sat up suddenly and felt the entire train she was on move like it was balancing on something.
Briyelle was happy she made it on the train and didn’t die, but she was quite confused about what was going on. She looked out the train window and gulped. It seemed the train kept going until it found the end of the line, which was a giant hole that goes almost nowhere.
The only reason Briyelle and the train weren’t at the bottom was because there was a single beam that went across the hole, and the train landed on that instead of falling in. That meant one wrong move and Briyelle and the train would fall, making it her third time falling today.
Briyelle stood as still as she could and looked around for the best place to skip to in order to get to safety, but before she could, yet another anomaly occurred, this time dropping off a medium, perfectly round energy core.
Briyelle was thrilled to see it and that it was usable until it started to roll forward, causing the train to nearly tilt off of the beam it was on. Briyelle panicked and skipped over to it and held it in place, which she instantly regretted, as she knew she just wasted her one safe skip.
Though there was a chance it wasn’t entirely wasted. She looked over the core and found it had a port to connect to, which meant she could use it to recharge. She plugged herself in and did everything in her power not to move from the discomfort and pain of chagrin.
Once she was charged, she was about to skip out of there, but the core wasn’t all that heavy, maybe slightly lighter than her, and she wondered if she could take it. After all, when her ship skipped, it always took her along with it.
If she could take it with her, it would be a big help. So to test if she could, she used her skip to move back to the very center of the train, but the core didn’t come with her and started to roll again. Briyelle skipped again, grabbing the core before it sent the train to the bottom of the hole.
While recharging again, Briyelle found herself disappointed it didn't work but wasn’t giving up yet. She asked her system if she could skip while holding something. Her system replied and displayed several panels of info about her skipping abilities.
Turns out she can skip while holding something, but in order to do it, she must have a strong desire to do so and focus it on the object. She also has to be careful about what objects she tries to skip with.
The bigger and heavier the object, the more energy it takes. Objects that are her size and height and below will move no problem, but she’ll go into extreme fatigue even if she hasn’t used skip jump in awhile.
Some things bigger and heavier than her will also move, but after skip jumping, she’ll imminently go into emergency rest mode. Then the last bit of info told her that anything ten times heavier than her will cause the jump skip to fail while still putting her into emergency rest mode.
With those things in mind, it seems as long as she focuses on it, she can move any object or person using her jump skip. So knowing that, all she had to do was use it. Briyelle focused on the core and then the safe area she wanted to teleport to.
She then used her skip jump and brought both herself and the core to safety, and moments later the train fell into the deep dark hole. Briyelle was cheering at her success, but as she did, she quickly fell backwards and passed out, going into emergency rest mode.
It turned out she made a mistake in judging the core; while it didn’t seem heavy because it wasn’t rolling fast and she was able to stop it from moving, it was nearly double her weight. So while she did manage to get the core out, she was unconscious on the ground again.
Worse than that, the core once again started to roll. It rolled right past Briyelle and towards the edge of the hole. It teetered on the edge for a moment, almost as if it was taunting the sleeping girl, before rolling into the hole and vanishing, probably forever.
