Deepspace: Zaxary and the Hanger Entrance (Ea) (Com)

A commission for last_of_workers

Zaxary found herself wandering around the desert, sifting through all the new information she had inside her head to access. It was like being in a wonderland for her. Everything about ships that she could ever possibly learn was just in her head now.

Zaxary was so focused on her new knowledge that she nearly walked past a very obvious entrance to Zeta-13. It was only when she got a notification saying a new location was added to her system. She turned and looked and was excited to see a spaceship hangar.

Even though this place had an orbital station before, hangars like this were still useful for ships that were going to be docked here long term, as well as any ships that needed to be repaired. Zaxary was excited as there should at least be a broken ship, one she can repair inside.

Running inside, expecting to see ships everywhere, with even more ship parts around them, Zaxary was left very disappointed when she walked into an empty hangar—well, not entirely empty, as there were three piles of metal that seemed to decompose.

Zaxary was confused at what she was seeing at first, but then the knowledge she had about the anomalies popped in her head again, and it became clear. Anomalies had done something to destroy all the ships in the hangar.

She walked up to one of the piles and ran her hand through it, and from the looks of it, the anomalies were time-related, as the metal, which should take nearly a thousand years to start breaking down, was almost fully decomposed.

Zachary annoyedly yelled, which echoed all throughout the hangar and back at her. This was bad for her and the rest of the pilots, as none of them have ships anymore, and most of Zeta-13’s ships fled when it was abandoned.

What little ships remained would have been here, and now there is nothing. Of course she knew there were likely still parts that could be used to build a whole new ship, and she now had the knowledge to do it, but it wouldn’t be easy.

She’d have to find the parts, and she couldn’t use what was in the hangar; it was all trash and best sent to be melted down. Then there was the time, assuming none of the other captains had experience building a ship from scratch, she’d be working along, perhaps for years.

So as it is right now, there were eleven captains here all trying to claim a place they very well might be trapped on, and that didn’t sound like it was going to end well for them. Zaxary stopped to think about what to do.

She could focus on trying to claim Zeta-13, but doing so seems pointless at this point. She was sure that no matter who claims it, they’ll give her a decent amount of stuff just to be able to use the ship she puts together, and since it was going to take so long to build, she might as well start now.

She just needed to find parts and tools. Normally she’d need tools she could hold in her hands, but being that she’s been made part robot, there may be things she can attach to herself and use, making her job even easier. She just needed to find them, which wasn’t going to happen here.

So she left the hangar; at least she tried to, but as she reached the door to leave, an anomaly caused a portal to open up over her. It seemed to have teleported her somewhere else, but when she could see again, she found she was still in the same hangar.

Zaxary was confused; as she looked around, it really felt like she was teleported somewhere, but she hadn’t moved, nor did anything happen, at least she thought at first. Looking at the piles of metals from the ships, she noticed something different.

They were slightly less broken down. Zaxary picked them up and wondered if the anomaly had suddenly reversed what it had done to them a bit, but then she heard some crazy sounds coming from outside.

She walked outside and was nearly met with a fireball to the face, among many things. Zaxary managed to duck in time. When she came back up, she realized the anomalies were going crazy, like they had been when she arrived.

It was like she had traveled back in time. Zaxary’s got wide, she turned her head and looked up, and there floating in the sky was the orbital space station that had vanished, and it was hard to tell, but it seemed to have several ships on it.

She had to have been sent back into the past when she arrived with the other pilots, which meant she could connect to her own comms and warn herself about what was to come. Zaxary, using her systems, was about to do just that but suddenly hesitated.

If she did it and her past self left, she’d possibly stop existing, and her past self wouldn’t be able to be connected to all this info like she was, which was something she greatly enjoyed, making it tough to give up, but she knew it was best for everyone, so she hit the button.

Of course, Zeta-13 did what it does best, and suddenly Zaxary was back inside the hangar during her normal time period. Zaxary had a look of shock on her face before running back outside. Once out there, she found no space station and very few anomalies occurring on the surface.

Zaxary held her face and called herself an idiot several times. That was a big missed opportunity to make this situation better, and she hesitated because she wanted to keep her knowledge. As she was holding her face, she suddenly heard a spaceship again.

Confused, Zaxary removed her hands to yet again find herself inside the space station, this time way in the past, right as the last ship was fleeing this hangar. Zaxary stopped beating herself up and went right to making this time count.

She knew right away she was in the very past, which meant she couldn’t contact her past self as she wouldn’t have been born yet, but what she could do was find some tools to use and perhaps some parts.

Zaxary ran right to one of the ships that was being worked on; she grabbed a tool bag and started to load it up with the most important tools. She managed to get quite a bit before she felt the anomaly inside her getting ready to send her back again.

Having what she needed and hoping they would travel with her, Zaxary went and grabbed on to the ship she was next to. Suddenly she was back in her normal time, with the tool bag, but unfortunately no spaceship.

Though she did manage to bring the ship's entrance ramp and the small engine that she was touching at the time she teleported. The rest were clearly too big and didn’t end up coming along with her.

Zaxary then quickly dropped the tool bag and stepped away, just in case she got teleported through time again. She didn’t want to end up losing the tools in some random other time, even if it was just a few days in the future or something like that, as it would waste precious time.

After ten minutes of standing there with nothing happening, Zaxary figured the anomaly affecting her had passed and she was now soundly in this time period again. She ran over to her tools and started to look through them.

She knew there were a few more things she could use, but for the most part this was perfect and enough to start building. All she needed now were the ship parts, which she wasn't going to find here. She stored the tools in what she hoped was a safe spot and went to the exit again.

She was sort of nervous about stepping through, as it felt like the anomalies were trying to keep her in the hangar, but she was able to step through the door this time and look down the massive hallways that lead to different parts of Zeta-13.

She had no idea which way to go, but she knew what she needed. Tons of parts, and perhaps a few people to help her out. Zaxary decided to head to the right, and suddenly she found herself in a different spot.

The anomaly activated again, and now she was in a completely different part of Zeta-13, and she had no idea what time she was in. All she knew was that there was a strange-looking girl with robotic parts in front of her. Was she someone from the past, future, or one of the pilots like her? There was only one way to find out.

It's going to be lots of fun with the parts to come. Imagine it: a team-up. I wonder what kind of things will happen. I also wonder how Zeta-13 and the anomalies will respond.

this story... it's impressive. I honestly didn't expect that here you would go for Zaxary herself to directly interact with chrono anomalies... this is a questionable decision since here you can easily find arguments for Zaxary to stay in the hangar because here she has a chance to get the necessary parts... however, you can also easily explain why Zaxary decided to leave the hangar and the answer is very simple - games with time are dangerous for the Krine!... but I digress because I wanted to say that I really liked the story and especially its ending and Zaxary's meeting with one of the other captains. I wonder who it is? in fact, based on the description, with absolute certainty we can exclude only Johnath from the candidates
