My entire life I’ve been allergic to bees. A single sting was enough to put my life on the line. So, I always carry an EpiPen, and I typically avoid outside areas where you would find bees. Which can be difficult at times.
It was the middle of spring and the bees were very active, so I was walking through town being extra careful. I was heading towards the grocery store to pick up something to cook for dinner later that night.
As I passed every tree growing out of the sidewalk and flower bed at the foot of people's homes, I was scanning for bees. I was doing pretty good, but then the unthinkable happened. I was bit in the head by a large beehive falling.
It turned out some idiot on the top of one of the buildings I was walking by, was poking at a large beehive. I guess he didn't care if anyone was walking below as he did. Leaving me to suffer the wrath of the thousands of bees.
I was quickly stung hundreds of times, and I passed out before I could do anything, never mind get my Epipen out. I remember hearing sirens, and people talking to me. I even remember the feeling of being picked up.
I think I was brought to a hospital, as I remember hearing people talking about me. It was so strange, I felt like I was awake, but I couldn’t see, move, or speak. All I could do was listen, and listen I did.
I don’t know how much time passed, but it was long enough for the people taking care of me to start to believe I wouldn’t get better.
They began talking about options for me, and one of them turned out to be a special drug trial. I remember the person who was pitching it said it had great healing properties, and they believed it could heal my body to the point where I’d wake up.
I was excited, even if I couldn’t show it, to be able to wake up and live again is worth any risk. So in the coming days, at least I think a few days passed. I was transported to another facility, I felt something put into my mouth and someone's hand on my throat to help me swallow it.
Then I was left alone. Again I’m not sure how much time passed, but I eventually opened my eyes. My body felt a lot weaker from the last time I was awake, but I didn’t care. I sat up and almost immediately started crying.
I was so happy to be up. Once I stopped crying I got off of the bed I was on and looked around. It looked like I was outside in the woods, with trees and flowers all around me, but it was clear I was in some sort of very large room, designed to look like the outdoors.
I tried to call out to any medical professionals, but my throat was so dry from not drinking anything that I couldn’t speak. I looked around for something to drink, but the only thing around was a small river, flowing from end to end of this room.
I figured it was safe to drink, so I leaned down and drank so much water, you’d think I’d never had it before. When I lifted my head I noticed my reflection. I was so small now, and my hair had gotten longer.
I guess I lost a lot of weight in my coma, and of course, my hair kept growing, but there was something else different that I couldn’t put my finger on. My memory was a bit fuzzy, so I couldn’t figure it out.
I once again tried to call out to someone, since I was able to moisten my throat, but I still couldn’t get anything out. I guess I couldn’t expect it to work that quickly. I guess I just have to wait for someone to check on me.
I ended up walking around and stretching my body. Trying to get it used to moving again, but I quickly ran out of energy and laid on the grass to rest. I ended up falling asleep and having my first dream in forever.
I was having a dream where I flew around and played with different flowers. It was really nice until It wasn’t. My dream turned into a nightmare when the thought of not waking up popped into them. But the panic of it woke me up, showing me I had nothing to worry about anymore.
I yawned and looked around, there was still no one to talk to me, and the bed I woke up in before was now gone. I stand up and notice a pile of clothes next to me. I pick them up and look them over. It was a black and yellow bra and panty set, almost like a two-piece swimsuit.
I felt confused, as I didn’t think I’d usually wear something like this. I look down and see that all I’m wearing is a hospital gown, so I guess having these on would be more comfortable, at the very least my private parts won't be on display. I remove the hospital gown and slip the panties up.
I slipped them up and over my hips, but they got caught on something. I turn my head to look towards my butt, and see the panties are stuck on my stinger? I take the panties off and look at them again.
I realized I put them on backward, there was a hole in them that I guess I assumed was supposed to be in the front. I turn them around and slip them back on, this time successfully getting my stinger in them.
Slipping the bra on was much easier, as they clipped together in the back. So I was able to get around my wings without even moving them. I looked down back to where I picked up the clothes and noticed there was something else there.
There were two hair ties there, I guess because my hair was so long now. I might as well use them, so I put one on each side and I now have twin tails, which are super cute when paired with my new outfit.
Once dressed, I once again go and play with the flowers. As I do I notice a group of bees heading towards me. Something inside of me felt scared for some reason, but when they got next to me they said hello.
Well, they didn’t say it, more like they danced it. I did a little dance to say hello back, and the group and I became friends. We hung out as they collected nectar and pollen, and then they told me they needed me to return with them to their hive.
I didn’t have a hive, so I was happy to follow them. When we got there the few I was with went into the beehive. I was a little too big to follow them in, so I waited outside. Eventually, all the bees in the hive came pouring out.
They fly around me for a good minute, with some of them getting really close and then backing away. When they were done a good portion went back into the hive. I was confused, but one of the bees I followed here told me to hold my hands out.
So I did, and a ton of bees began to fill my hands. I looked down and recognized the substance they were giving me. It was royal jelly, I looked at them and shook my body to ask them why they were giving me this.
Their response was that they chose me to be their new queen. I guess they recently lost their last one, and they’ve been trying to raise a new one, but haven’t had any luck, but I somehow came along to save them.
They wanted me to be their queen, me, some random hiveless bee? I was so honored and happy. Once they finished filling my hands with the jelly, I was told I’d need to eat a lot of it, so my body became capable of its queenly duties.
I gladly did so, but as soon as I was done, smoke began to fill the room we were in. I tried not to breathe it in, but the longer it filled the room the more of it I breathed in. This caused me to relax to the point of falling asleep.
I was woken up by my hive, buzzing all around me. I got up and talked to them, they told me the hive had been moved, and now we were in a place with tons of amazing flowers. I looked around and couldn’t see any signs of us being in a room anymore.
We were now outside, deep in some woodland area. The bees in my hive quickly get back to work like nothing changed. They also continue to bring me the royal jelly. Which tastes so great the more I eat it.
Now I suppose I need to get on with my duties as queen, which means finding a mate and well-producing eggs. That may be a bit difficult due to my size, I’m sure there’s a way, I just have to figure it out.
