Holding the ticket in her hands, Thia closes her eyes, and begins to think about appearing before the genie. The number 44 appears on the ticket, and Thia is instantly teleported in front of a genie.
“Welcome to my realm, you’re the forty-fourth person to get a free wish from a real life genie!”
“Thanks so much for my last wish, my family has grown a lot since then, so now..” The genie puts her hand up and stops Thia from talking.
“Last wish? I never granted you a wish before, perhaps some other genie granted you one. It would explain this odd magical aura around you.” The genie looks at Thia for a minute before smiling.
“Yup you sure did get a wish, I just checked out your past, and I know now exactly what that last genie granted you. Now that I’m all caught up, go ahead with your wish.” The genie now waits to hear your wish.
“I would like to wish for a job, raising so many children is expensive, one where I can have all of my family near me.” “That’s it? Is it that hard to get a job like that in your world? I mean I think you're more than qualified right?”
The genie shrugs her shoulders. “I suppose I don’t even know what world you came from, nevermind all the little details like that. So hold still I will be back.” The genie quickly flies off into the horizon.
She returns with a very tiny orb. “Here we go, it might be smaller than the rest, but it has the perfect amount of magic inside to grant your wish, without messing up your last one. So here you go.”
“When I send you back, it’ll do whatever it needs to do to get you your new job. How exactly it does that I have no idea, but it will do it for sure.” The genie smiled at Thia and waved her goodbye before snapping her fingers.
Thia found herself outside a daycare, with her two year old daughter in her left arm, and her five year old son holding her right hand. She looked around, and then back at the building, it was easy enough to assume this was her new job.
She walked through the building and was greeted by another woman with light brown hair. “Thia you made it! I’m so glad. Take a look around the daycare, heck let Theo and Thea run around it.”
Thia let her son's hand go and put Thea on the ground, and both of them went right into the playroom to start playing with the toys. “So Thia, are you excited? It’s the big day, the first day of our new daycare.”
“Soon there will be a bunch of little ones running around here like gremlins. I’m still a bit nervous to be honest, but I know you’re more than used to it, and can definitely handle a bunch of kids.”
The woman went on to talk about finding the right man so she could finally have some of her own, but Thia kinda zoned her out. She walked over to the window and saw her kids playing, and being happy little kids.
It made her feel so good, seeing them. This was all she really needed, a job where she could keep them close, all while being able to earn a living to provide them with everything they could possibly need.
“Hello Thia? I knew you weren't listening to me. The woes of a fair maiden yet again go unheard.” The woman says dramatically before smiling at Thia. “Now we should prepare breakfast for the kids, right?”
The woman left towards the kitchen area and people started entering the building. One by one, kids were dropped off at the daycare. Thia would greet the parents and take the child to the playroom.
Once they stopped, there were twelve kids running around the room, playing together and making a ton of noise. Thia looked into the room, and laughed, the woman was right, it was like a pack of gremlins, but she was ready to wrangle them in.
