The Tale of Gabriel Mandrake pt4

Be sure to check out the poll that comes out with this! It'll let you pick what happens next!

“I’m so high up now! I can see several towns in the distance, one seems to be a small village with a ton of farms, and the other seems to be some sort of fort, as it has a castle and a big stone wall surrounding it.”

“It also seems groups from each place are heading towards the forest as well. I might be able to steal some equipment and clothes from one of them without them noticing. Being disguised could be quite handy.”

Gabriel weighs her options, she needs to do something. If she stays here one of the groups might see her and know she caused the fire. So she quickly flies to the ground between both towns and waits as she decides.

“I think my best bet is to steal some equipment from the knights heading this way. They’ll have extra armor and weapons along with a horse with supplies. The farmers on the other hand are walking and won’t have much, and I don’t want to take what little they have.”

Gabriel crouches and sneaks closer to the party of knights, and hides in some bushes just before an entrance to the forest. “Yeah this is my best bet, no way I’d be able to walk around town naked, never mind as a fairy.”

“I’ll wait here for the knights to set up a temporary camp and head into the forest to put the fire out.” Gabriel waits in the bush and does her best to stay quiet and keep her wings from popping out.

After ten minutes the group of nights stopped at a clearing and started to unload their supplies. “Alright men, there’s a massive fire in the forest. Luckily we have two high-level water mages with us today.”

“Our job is to protect them with our lives from all the evil monsters and woodland creatures that will attack us. We’ll split into two teams, one mage on each team accompanied by two knights, and one of us will remain here and protect the camp from looters.”

The two mages pick two knights each and one heads right into the forest. “Alright, team one has entered. Team two let’s head around to the other side and prevent further spread.” With that, the other group rode off in the direction the farmers were heading to earlier.

Now all that’s left in the knight's camp is one young soldier. “Alright Jack, first big mission, don’t mess this up. Stay alert and have your sword ready.” The young knight proceeds to walk in a circle and survey the camp.

“He doesn’t look like much, even in my fairy form I could take him tied up and blindfolded. Although my magic is several depleted, and I’m a bit too exhausted to draw in more mana right now.”

Gabriel looks around for anything she can use, there isn't much around other than rocks and sticks. “I suppose I can knock him out with a rock, in this body I’ll have to muster a bit more strength. It’ll hurt him, but won’t kill him.”

She grabs a medium-sized stone and starts to make her way behind the guard. “Alright Gabriel, hit the sweet spot and he’ll go right down.” Right when she was about to hit the knight in the head, she stepped on a twig.

“Huh, who’s there?” The knight turns around, just in time to get smacked right in the face by Gabriel’s rock. The knight looks stunned and then falls over. “Yikes, didn’t mean to hit him in the face, but he’s out cold so mission complete.”

Gabriel checks to make sure he didn’t die, then heads over to where the extra equipment is stored. “Nice, they did, bring some extra armor, and a couple of swords. Hopefully, they have some that fit me.”

She pulls out all the armor and finds the small set. “Still seems a little big, but I might as well try it on and find out.” She slipped all the armor on, locking the pieces together so they’d stay in place, but it was still much bigger than her.

“Damn my new tiny form, I’m nearly child-sized, there’s not going to be armor anywhere that fits me properly. If I had some mana, I might be able to reshape this armor to fit, but I’d need to sleep or get some sort of mana potion.”

A light lit up in her head. “That knight said they had mages right? Mages tend to carry mana potions, I should check the horse one of them came here on.” Gabriel waddles her way over to the horses, trying her best not to trip in the large armor.

She opens the saddle bag and starts pulling everything out of it. “Scrolls, nope don’t need those, runes, nope no those either, ah potions. Let’s see, health, stamina, poison? Mana, yes this is perfect!”

She pulls the potion out and removes the cork from the top. “I’ve never taken one of these before, how much do I drink? I guess all of it, right? I mean it’ll just give me more mana, right? Plus an excess will be used on this armor.”

She shrugs and chugs the entire potion. “Oh gods, no one ever talks about how awful these things taste. I think I’d rather lick an ogers ass.” Suddenly Gabriel feels her body start to fill up with tons of mana.

‘Wow, that was so much quicker than gathering it myself, If I end up stuck in this body for too long, I might have to buy some of these potions. Now Let’s see if I could use some of this mana to fix my outfit.”

Gabriel started to expel mana out into the surface of the armor. “I’m not really sure what I’m doing, but every other spell I did, I only had to think about it and focus. So magical powers, please turn this bulky armor into something more fitting of my body.”

The armor started to glow, and parts of it melted away and others started to move. Some parts shrank and other parts stretched out. After about a minute of this, it all stopped and the armor stopped glowing.

‘Wow it worked, I can actually move around now. I wonder if it looks as good as it feels?” Gabriel lifts her hand and shoots a ball of mana in front of her, creating a mirror that floats just off the ground in front of her.

“Ug, why did it turn into such feminine armor? I mean it’s basically a dress with metal plating attached. One wrong move and these new panties of mine will be on full display.” She began to turn and look at all sides of the armor.

“Well it looks sturdy, and all my major parts are covered, and my wings arnt uncomfortable and crushed like they were a minute ago. I suppose I did ask it to make armor more fitting of my body.”

Gabriel makes a pouty face. “Definitely better than being naked, although I could do without these armored thigh-high heels. I mean they’re just ridiculous, no night wears heels like this. At least I can walk in them for some reason.”

Gabriel looks at herself one last time, and a slight smile creeps onto her face before she hears the knight she knocked out start to wake up. “I suppose it’s time to get out of here. I hope you don’t mind lending me the armor, oh, and this sword and one of your horses.”

Gabriel grabs a sword as she runs towards the horse and attaches it to the side of the horse, then she jumps up on the horse. “Alright mister horsey, please take this kind fairy to a powerful mage that can help her.”

The horse just neighs at her. “Yeah, I suppose you need me to tell you where to go. Let’s see, the capital has strong mages, but I could be in danger going there. I could also go to the Dundhent, the city of monsters, there I’d be able to walk around free.”

Gabriel puts her hand on her chin. “No guarantee I’ll find someone who’ll know how to change me there. I need to decide what to do fast. Who knows when those knights will come back, I don’t want to be here when the one on the ground wakes up.”

Hello again Gabriel Mandrake. And I have a question for you right away! Where have you seen a magician in armor? Surely there are no such things! Do you know why? No? What a pity... Well, in that case, I won’t spoil the surprise for you, but I’ll give you advice: be prepared for some relatively pleasant surprises!
