They had to move the location to LA. They were able to shoot in Miami for a few days I think, but the Cubans living there were upset because of the negative light they felt this movie would perceive them. There were maybe even possible threats from actual cartels. I listened to commentary with Oliver Stone, who actually lived in Miami and researched with some of the cartels and developed a little “ya-yo” problem himself. Anyway! So happy to have a reason to watch the movie again! So many quotable and iconic lines!

2024-11-17 13:17:48 +0000 UTCOne of my favorite movies, I have seen this movie 21 times and never get tired of it, It was not a success when it came out, in fact it wasn’t immediately profitable. The movie has received bad reviews at the time, and not well received by the public. It grew as time went on, but now it is a movie well loved. In 1983 people were not ready for this movie. Glad you like it Coby.
