Body Swapped With The Hero: Pt1

I am Princess Zelda, princess to the kingdom of Hyrule and the one who bears the triforce of wisdom. It’s my duty to not only protect the triforce but to use it to defeat the evil Ganon if he ever appears again.

I’ve spent many days training and learning magic with the help of Impa. Impa is a member of the Sheikah tribe, whose members have protected those in the royal family for as long as it’s been recorded.

She’s also an amazing teacher and my most trusted friend, although she can be overly protective, like right now for instance. I was simply visiting the flower garden, yet she insisted on accompanying me, despite ten soldiers also stationed there.

She always said that an enemy attacks when you least expect it, and well, she was right. That same day, I heard my father yelling. There’s a window that looks into the throne room from the garden so I took a peek.

Standing in front of my father was a tall, strong, and evil-looking man. I think he’s from the tribe that lives in the Gerudo Desert. I believe they only give birth to a male every one hundred years or so, which makes him their current king.

My father was still yelling at the man, and that’s when I noticed all the guards in the room on the floor, possibly dead. I turned to Impa and told her we had to get in there and help him.  That’s when A strong evil energy started coming from the man.

I snapped back to look at him, his right hand began to glow. I was shocked, this man bore the triforce of power, and he was using it to attack my father. He pointed his hand at my father and the next moment a huge energy blast exploded in the room.

I was sent flying back along with debris from the wall. When I sat up I saw the man looking out towards me. He loudly shouted, “I AM THE GREAT KING OF EVIL, GANONDORF”. He told me the Hyrule kingdom was now his, and he’d be taking my triforce.

Thinking quickly, Impa threw a bomb and caused the throne room ceiling to collapse on top of him. She grabbed my arm and we ran out of there. We managed to escape the castle, but the town was now flooded with monsters.

We began to hide and run through the back alleys in town, when we got to the town's gate though we were met with an army of monsters. They had to be waiting for us to try and leave, and there was no way we could fight them all.

We needed a distraction, but the only thing they would likely move for was to capture me. That’s when I remembered a very advanced magic spell that could switch people's bodies. This would allow me to get past the monsters with the triforce.

She insisted I switch with her, and she would use my body to get the attention of the monsters and lead them away. I was about to use the spell when a man about my age came running up to us. He was shaking a bit, and seemed like this was the first time he had been in battle, but he was here, sword in hand just to help.

I explained the situation, and mentioned the body-swapping spell, he agreed to take Impas' place so we could escape. After I switched us, he ran right out and caught the attention of the monster hoard. He ran towards the castle and the majority of them followed.

Impa and I took this opportunity to reach the gate and escape. We ran through the night, eventually ending up in a dense forest. Impa was certain there was someone important here who could help us. Eventually, we ended up in a small town, the people here all seemed like children.

One of them came over to talk to us, and she introduced herself as Saria of the Kokiri tribe. Impa asked if the great tree would see us. Saria explained he was already expecting us, so she agreed to lead us to him.

I had read tales of the great tree, he was hundreds of years old and one of the wisest beings in our world. I thought he was an old myth, but clearly, he was real and I was about to meet him, and in a stranger's body.

When we arrived at the great Deku Tree, I could sense an evil presence inside of him, almost like a parasite feasting off of him. I greeted him, explaining to him the current situation plaguing our lands.  He didn’t seem surprised, he suspected something like this would soon happen.

The Great Deku Tree, told us Ganondorf came to visit him years ago, Ganondorf came looking for the Kokiri’s Emerald, which the Deku Tree kept inside of him. The Deku tree tried to stop him, but Ganondorf took it by force, on top of that he left some sort of monster inside him, one that was killing him.

Just like I sensed as we arrived, I told the Deku Tree to let me in, I would slay the beast that plagues him. He chuckled but agreed as long as I went alone. It was a strange request and Impa wasn’t happy.

For some reason I felt like I had to do this, so I told her I was going, but not to worry, she trained me to be the best after all. With that I entered the Great Deku Tree, He wasn’t doing too well on the inside.

It looks like the layout used to be a dungeon, filled with traps and puzzles, but now there were holes and rotted roots everywhere. I follow the dark energy through several destroyed rooms, until reaching what seems to be the center of the Great Deku Tree.

I drew the sword I had on me, catching my reflection on the blade's surface. I have to have courage now more than ever, for my people and especially for the young man who sacrificed himself for me. I will not fall here, I will not fail, defeating this here will be my first step in restoring my kingdom.

I open the door and enter the room containing the best. At first, the room appeared to be empty, but suddenly the dark energy returned and I realized it was right above me. I rolled out of the way as it crashed onto the ground.

I ran up to it and hit it a few times, but that only left a few minor scratches. It jumped back onto the ceiling and began to shoot mini spiders at me. They’re easy enough to kill, but this thing has to have some sort of weakness.

It drops down, once again trying to crush me. I rolled out of the way, but this time I kicked up a bunch of dirt and branches as I rolled. It ended up in the creature's eyes and it fell to the ground with its eye open and watering.

I ran up and slashed its eye, it screamed loudly and ran away from me. While it was up on the ceiling getting ready to shoot more spiders at me, I took my sword and threw it straight into its eye from below.

It fell to the ground and I ran over to it. I grabbed my sword and began to pull it. I pulled my sword along with its eye out. This seems to have killed it as not long after, it starts to fizzle and fade away. I could feel its dark energy fade from the rest of the Great Deku Tree.

I was excited and once again greeted the Great Deku Tree. I asked him how he was feeling, and he once again chuckled and thanked me.  He told us that although I had defeated the creature, he hadn’t much time left in our world.

He wanted us to listen as he had much to tell us. To defeat Ganondorf, we had to gather the seven sages. He knows who a few of them are, but the others he only knows where to find them. Saria was the sage of forest and Impa was the sage of shadow. The next thing he said was surprising to me.

He told me the wielder of the triforce of wisdom Princess Zelda was also a sage. I told him that was great, because that was me, even though I currently have a different body. This caused him to grow silent. When he spoke he informed me I was incorrect.

I had neither the triforce of wisdom nor the power of sage. I’ll admit I know he’s a great tree and all, but I could still feel the power of the Triforce. So I focused on its energy and pulled it out, Impa and I were shocked when it came out.

I still had a piece of the triforce, but I now had the triforce of courage. I was confused and asked the Deku tree how it was possible for it to have changed. He thought about it for a moment. He said it was most likely I switched bodies with the reincarnation of the hero of legends, and that he likely had the triforce of courage long before we met.

When we swapped, the Triforces must have blocked each other, keeping them from swapping as well. This means the person in my body has the Triforce of wisdom and is not in Ganondorf's custody.

The Great Deku Tree gave me the locations of the last few sages, but he did not know their names. One was in the Gerudo Desert, another near Death Mountain, Zora's Domain, and the temple of time. After passing on the information, the Great Deku Tree passed away.

When I turned around, the children of the Kokiri tribe were all standing behind us. They all had sad looks on their faces, they all sat around the tree and began to sing. Impa, Saria, and I prepared to depart the forest and head towards Zora’s domain. We have to hurry and find the other sages before Ganondorf manages to extract the triforce of wisdom from my old body.
