“I suppose a little nap won't hurt, and maybe in the morning, I can figure out what I should do next. Learning how to use my new magical powers might be a good idea, but I should also try to get out of these woods.”
She closed her eyes and started to drift to sleep. “I also need some clothes, I can’t walk around naked. I’m sure there are some horny men that would love to see that, hell even explore the body of a girl like that. Maybe I should beat them to it.” With that, Gabriel falls asleep.
Gabriel woke up many hours later when the light from the sun reflected onto her face. “Huh, sunlight, must be morning.” Gabriel sits up and stretches. “Damn, why am I so cold?” Gabriel looks down and sees her naked body.
“Oh right, I guess it was too much to hope that this was all a dream.” She gets up and exits the cave she had been sleeping in. She looks around and much hasn’t changed since last night. The slime pond was still in icy pieces.
“It’s good that the slime is still frozen, I never would have woken up if it thawed and attacked again. There also seems to be no sign of those fairies, I’m guessing I got far enough away from their village and they won’t leave its safety.”
Gabriel places her hand on her face. “I need to find a way to turn back, but I doubt that cult of fairies would actually do that. So my only chance is to find another powerful magic user, which will be tricky.”
“I’m now also a fairy, which was said to be extinct. I’ll be in some serious danger if I walk around without being able to protect myself.” She looks around again. “With the empty spot the slime left, I think I can practice some magic here in private.”
Gabriel walks to the center of the hole and closes her eyes. “It seems magic requires a great deal of concentration to those unfamiliar with it. I think I should start by learning to collect it more naturally, so it doesn’t take as long to cast spells.”
Gabriel puts her hands out to each side and focuses on. “Okay Gabriel, just like before.” Mana starts to build up in her body. She builds it until she nearly explodes from the intensity, and then she releases it.
She does this for several hours, with each attempt the time it takes her to fill up decreases, and the amount she can hold increases. Eventually, she gets to a satisfying point and opens her eyes. “It’s night? How? I just closed my eyes for a few minutes.
Did I end up in some sort of mediation? That's never happened to me before.” Gabriel suddenly felt her feet start to burn, she looked down to find little bits of the slime covering them. “Oh you again, I guess you’re starting to thaw.
It seems only a third of you in thawed and crawling back here. Good, I think you’ll be great for target practice.” Gabriel gathers the thawed slime and makes several piles around her. “Okay, I can gather mana pretty well, but I need to be able to cast spells with them on command.
I can use fire, ice, and wind. So let me try something new. How about some lightning bolts?” Gabriel lifts her hand and points it at one of the slime chunk piles. “Okay, imagine it a big bolt of lightning shooting out of my hand and hitting the slime.”
The mana in gather in her hand, and slowly formed a ball of lighting in her hand. “Whoa, it really worked. Now I suppose I should shoot it.” Much like before she released the magic from her hands. One moment it was in her hand and the next moment it exploded the entire area she shot.
“That was so quick, I didn’t even see it. I suppose it was lightning.” Gabriel looks at the chunks of slime on fire. “I suppose I should put that out before it spreads to the forest, or worse someone sees the smoke.”
Gabriel begins to turn the remaining mana she had stored inside her into balls of water, dropping them over the flaming piles of slime. As the flames go out, even more smoke begins to pour out of them. “Damn, that's a lot of smoke.
Someone is going to see this for sure. I need to put the rest of these fires out and leave.” Gabriel begins to quickly create more balls of water and shoot them at the fire. As she does the magic starts to take its toll and her body becomes heavy and sluggish as it becomes more and more tired.
“Dammit, why aren't they going out? There wasn’t that much slime right?” As Gabriel is desperately trying to put the fire out she feels a giant glob jump onto her back. ‘What the hell, get off of me.” She reaches her hands behind her and grabs the slime chunk, freezes it, and throws it to the side.
She looks around and sees several more slime chunks making their way towards her. ‘They’ve all unfrozen at once? How?” She looks at the fires raging behind her, and the slimes slowly making their way towards them.
“The heat from the fires? Dammit, if that’s the case this entire hole will soon fill up with the rest of it. Which means this whole place will burst into flames. I don’t think I can put this out now, I’ll have to get away from here.”
Gabriel begins to flee from the fires but is quickly surrounded by more slime. “Damn you slime, why do you insist on messing with me.” Gabriel tried to cast another freezing spell, but she was now out of mana. “Damn, out of juice.
I can’t get caught by this thing again or I’ll be dead, but I’m surrounded. What can I do?” Gabriel looks around trying to figure out some sort of escape plan, but with no magic, it seems hopeless as the slime closes in on her.
A piece of slime jumped onto one of her wings and instinct kicked in and she flapped it to get the slime off. “That’s it, I can fly with these right? I sure hope so, if not I’m truly going to die here to a slime.”
Gabriel stands straight up and begins to flap her wings, flapping them faster and faster until her feet slightly hover off of the ground. “Ha! It works, I can fly, I can truly fly now!” Gabriel continues flapping her wings until she is high above the entire forest.
“I’m so high up now! I can see several towns in the distance, one seems to be a small village with a ton of farms, and the other seems to be some sort of fort, as it has a castle and a big stone wall surrounding it.”
“It also seems groups from each place are heading towards the forest as well. I might be able to steal some equipment and clothes from one of them without them noticing. Being disguised could be quite handy.”
Gabriel weighs her options, she needs to do something. If she stays here one of the groups might see her and know she caused the fire. So she quickly flies to the ground between both towns and waits as she decides.
