Into the game: Toon Zelda

I’m super excited, for the last few years I’ve been the head of the team that was working on the newest entry to the Legend of Zelda game, specifically in the toon line. The name for it was going to be Kingdom Uproar.

In this installation, you get to play as both Toon Link and Zelda as they travel the contentment trying to rid the other kingdoms of evil, as each one had been taken over by a different iconic villain from the series.

As the link you’d get to fight enemies using tools and as Zelda you get to use magic and you also get to dress up in different costumes to disguise her so she could sneak past guards. Together you get to travel Hyrule solves puzzles that need one or the other and sometimes both and by the end of it take on Ganon.

The game was my masterpiece, and I was ecstatic when I was told I would be the one presenting it at the GamingLife convention this year. I arrived a few days early and helped set up the Nintendo area and then practiced my presentation each day until it was perfect.

I was preparing to give the real presentation as the room began to fill with people. As usual, there were so many people that the seats were filled along with any possible standing room behind them. The whole presentation starts and a few other games are shown off before mine.

Once they were done I walked on screen and greeted everyone. I thanked them for being here and picked up the Nintendo Switch we had at the podium. It was hooked up to the large monitor behind me a copy of the game saved at a part of the game where I could demonstrate live gameplay.

Before that though I had to tell the crowd what the game was and show them the trailer we had created for the game. So I wave my hands towards the big screen and an image of the tricfoce appears. The crowd goes wild screaming and cheering before the trailer even begins.

It was hard to hear, but halfway through the trailer, I could have sworn I heard people outside the room running and screaming. Then the monitor the trailer was on began to flash vigorously. I looked towards the tech crew and they seemed to be scrambling to fix it.

I tried to tell everyone in the crowd that we’d have it fixed in a minute but even the microphone was on the fritz. That’s when the room filled with this high-pitched humming noise. The crowd began to panic and push each other as they tried to get out of the room.

Then the room shook as if something had exploded nearby. Everyone was thrown around including me who was thrown to the back wall with the podium landing on my legs and the Nintendo Switch on my lap.

My hurt like crazy and I think It was broken, but with whatever was going on I knew I couldn't stay here, so I began to push the podium off of my leg, but it was too heavy. One of the tech crew members managed to get over to me and began helping me get it off.

That’s when we felt some sort of wave pass through us, and the tech crew member who was helping me passed out on top of me. I tried to wake him up, but it wasn’t long until I followed suit and passed out.

When I woke up I was laying in a field with the sun beaming down on me. When I sat up I saw something unbelievable. A real-life Toon Link was standing a few feet in front of me swinging his sword and using several of the items from the game I helped create.

Normally seeing amazing cosplayers at a convention was normal, but it was clear we weren't at the convention anymore, and his items were working in ways that would never work in the real world. So I knew something was up right away, either I was dreaming, or somehow I was in my game.

As much as I wanted answers to how I got here, I was more excited to be in this world. I looked around, if Toon Link was here, Toon Zelda should be nearby and I wanted to see her as well, but I couldn't find her.

I went to walk toward Toon Link, but something caught my foot and I tripped. When I picked myself back up, I noticed I tripped on the bottom of my dress. I immediately stopped, my dress? Why was I wearing a dress?

I looked over it and reconsidered it immediately. It was Princess Zelda’s dress. A pink and white dress, with gold accents and a blue sache running out of my belt. I grabbed the edges of the dress and that's when I noticed the long white gloves running up past my elbows.

I already knew that I was indeed in the body of Princess Zelda, but my mind couldn't quite comprehend it, so I continued to look over in change. My hair was down to my back, and not only blonde but super soft and it smelled amazing.

On top of it was a crown with, and several gold clips above my ears. Speaking of, my ears were much larger and pointy. It was honestly a bit of fun to play with them. What wasn’t so fun was the feeling of emptiness around my crotch and the small breasts budding on my chest.

It was mostly embarrassing, as it was extremely emasculating in every sense. As I continued to check myself out, Toon Link noticed I was awake and came running over to me. I awkwardly greet him, and he greets me back in return.

He asked me what we should do as if he had no idea what was going on. I looked at him and shrugged saying I had no idea, I just woke up in this world wearing this dress. Toon Links face lit up like he was relieved. He asked me if I was also at the convention before getting here.

I was a little surprised by that, I was still under the notion this couldn't be real, so I never thought it was a possibility for Toon Link to also be a person from the convention, but if he was, that meant we are really in some sort of world identical to the Zelda game.

After a bit of talking, I learned that Toon Link was the guy who tried to help me get the podium off my leg, and he was a bit relieved to know I was okay, he then started showing off all his tools and showing off how amazing he was now.

I had to admit he looked cool, and if I was him I’d probably want to stay in this world, but I’m not sure that I'd want to be stuck here as the princess, especially knowing that in the game she has to wear all kinds of dresses and costumes.

From princess gowns to maid's uniforms to even swimsuits, there is a lot of clothing I’ll have to wear in order to save the kingdom. After Toon Link finished showing off his skills he then said if we completed the game we might be able to get out of here.

It was a good idea, but that would definitely mean I’d be wearing all those outfits. I did however know the game inside and out, and if this world works the same way we could get through all the puzzles quickly and beat Ganon, as long as Toon Link is up to the task.

So I explained the goal of the game to Toon Link and where we should be going right now, which was to defeat Vaati, but I suggested we make a stop at a place nearby. There we could get the master sword early since I already knew how to unlock it.

It was something you get around halfway through the game, but since we can get it now and it’ll help us a ton, we’re going to get it. Plus it means I get one of the coolest costumes in the game, the Toon Shiek outfit.

Link agreed and charged ahead. I couldn't help but smile as he ran around, something about him enjoying the world I created made me happy. I just hope he can take out all those baddies, especially if it turns out we can’t leave once we save this place.

I’ll help protect this world no matter what, and I’m sure Toon Link will as well, especially when he gets to use some of the cooler items later on in the game. Now that I think of it, I’ll be able to get a ton of cool magic too. Now that I think of it, maybe being the princess will be sort of cool.

Yeah it might be a little boring, but it's also their real life now, so having that info would be great for keeping them alive. As for Chell, there's always next time.

Hmmm the story itself is very good (although I’m sorry it’s not Chell from Portal, but that’s not bad either) however, it seems to me that being one of the developers is a little unfair to go through the game yourself... you know all the secrets, all the weaknesses, everything plot twists and so on... it's a little unfair... and not very interesting... but otherwise I liked the story so I'm really looking forward to the continuation of this series
