It was early in the night, and the holiday festival was just getting started. Bryce was up in his room alone, dancing around in a dress. He had no plans for the night and was happy as could be since it was christmas break.
As he was dancing around minding his own business, Cindy flung his door open. Bryce stopped mid-dance and turned his head slowly towards her. “Cin—Cindy!!!” Bryce said quickly. “IT’S NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE… I WAS JUST PRACTICING IN CASE…” He yelled as his face turned red.
Cindy shook her head and laughed. “Oh no, I get it… I might ask you to wear a dress to prom, so you’ll need to know how to dance.” Bryce suddenly smiled. “You’re making me a prom dress… I mean, if I’m being forced, I guess I’ll have to wear it.”
Bryce said it was going from being happy to pretending to be mad. Cindy laughed some more before pulling out a bag. “Soooo… I got this cute new dress you can have… but only under one condition.” Bryce looked at her and then the bag.
Bryce then stuck his hands out and made a grabbing motion with both his hands. “Give me, give me.”
Bryce then reached for the bag. “I didn’t even tell you what my condition is.” Cindy said as she pulled the bag back.
“I’m sure it’s fine… now give me.” Bryce said with a big smile on her face. Cindy shook her head again and handed Bryce the bag. “OOooooh! I can tell it’s cute.” Bryce said as he opened the bag. “It is, and all you have to do is put it on and come work at the Christmas festival with me.”
Cindy said with a devious look on her face. Bryce’s expression quickly became embarrassed as he thought about it. “Bu-but that’s… that’s in public.” Cindy raised an eyebrow. “Is… is that still a problem? You go out all the time crossdressing.”
Bryce’s expression went blank for a moment as he realized she was right. Bryce then cleared his throat. “Of course it’s a problem… I am a… man… Which means I should be humiliated wearing this stuff.”
Cindy just looked at Bryce, who just awkwardly looked back at her. “Then I’ll keep the Santa dress.” Cindy said as she went to reach for it. “NO!!” Bryce said as he pulled it away. “As your friend, I must wear this…” Bryce said as he ran into his bathroom and started changing.
A few minutes later Bryce comes out in a cute Santa dress with a matching Santa hat, cloak and boots. “It’s so cute!” Bryce said as she struck a pose. “It really is; now we need to be going.” Cindy said as she grabbed Bryce’s hand and pulled him along.
The two took a bus into town and made their way to one of the tents, which was a small makeshift bakery giving out Christmas cookies to those at the festival. Cindy put Bryce to work making the cookies, since they didn’t want her to do it and put someone in the hospital or worse.
So Bryce ran around in his cute Santa dress mixing batter and baking cookies, while Cindy ran around handing them out to people in front of their tent. After two hours Cindy came in the back and turned off the oven Bryce was using.
“Great job, Bry! We gave out so many cookies…” Cindy said as she took a bite of one. Bryce squints his eyes. “We would have given out way more if you didn’t eat half of them.” Cindy quickly finishes the one she was eating. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
Cindy wiped the crumbs from her face while Bryce continued to stare at her. “Anyway, we still have one more pack to give out and a customer waiting. I thought that since it was the last, you could do it. Might make you feel special.”
Bryce smiled. “Yeah, I’d love to.” Bryce said as she took the package of cookies from Cindy. She then walked around the curtain in the tent and went to the counter. Bryce saw the back of a black haired person standing there wearing a male santa suit.
“I know that head.” Bryce said as he smiled. He then slowly walks around the counter and playfully jumps on the person's back. “Whoa… who is?” they say, but get cut off by Bryce lowering the cookies into their eye view.
“Very special cookies, for my very special person.” Bryce said as he dangled them in front of Leo’s face. Leo finally realized who was on their back and let out a chuckle. They then reached up and grabbed the cookies from Bryce.
“They are indeed special. My very cute partner baked them for me.” Leo said before slipping the cookies into their pocket. Just like CIndy said, Bryce felt overjoyed and so happy, and without thinking about it, he reached his head around Leo’s face and kissed them on the cheek.
When Bryce moved his head back, Leo quickly moved their hand up and gasped. Bryce tilted his head and became worried. “Ar-are you ok-okay?” Leo didn’t answer for a moment but then laughed. “Yeah… I am… I’m actually great right now.”
Bryce puffed his cheeks. “I mean, I know my cookies are that good, but you haven’t eaten one yet, so what’s got you so happy?” “Well, my partner just kissed me for the first time.” Leo said clearly, trying to hold back their true excitement and remain cool.
Bryce jumped off of Leo’s back and his whole face got warm enough that it would melt a snowball pressed against it. “Wh-wha-WHAT!” Bryce yelled. Bryce then puffed his cheeks and looked mad. “I kiss you all the time!!!”
Leo turned around and shook their head. “Nope, it’s always me kissing you. You’ve always just been kissing me back.” Bryce closed her eyes and started to think. “Are they right?” He thought to himself. “Wait no, I totally kissed you on our first date.” Bryce said confidently as he pointed at Leo.
“Nope, I kissed you first; I started that whole thing. We both know you wouldn’t have kissed me first.” Leo said as they rubbed the spot where Bryce kissed. Bryce suddenly looked a bit defeated as he realized they were right.
Bryce then a devilish smile appeared on Bryce’s face. He quickly covered his lips with his hands. “Haha! Well, enjoy it! It’ll be your last. These lips are sealed away forever.” Leo held their face and stopped themself from laughing. They then managed to put on a playfully angry look.
“I can’t have that.” They said as they walked over to Bryce. “My heart would ache for the rest of my days.” They said as they grabbed Bryce’s hands and held them tightly in theirs. “Plus, you’d rob me of being able to be the one to kiss you back.”
Leo said as he leaned down and kissed Bryce on the lips. Bryce’s face got bright red as she looked into Leo’s eyes, but he didn’t stop it, nor did he want it to stop. After a few seconds, Bryce relaxed and closed his eyes, just enjoying the kiss.
At that moment it was just Leo and him; there wasn't snow, the festival, the tents or even the people. It was just him and Leo, with their lips pressed together. Bryce thought that moment was going to last forever, but they were suddenly pulled out of it by someone clearing their throat.
Both Leo and Bryce removed their lips from each other and turned their heads towards the next to see Cindy leaning on it with a smug grin. “You know, Bry, I can totally clean all these dishes myself. Since you seem to have found a date for the Christmas festival.”
Leo looked surprised, and Bryce smiled. “Really? Are you sure?” Bryce said as he pulled himself tightly into Leo. Cindy nodded. “Yup, you have fun.” Bryce started giggling. “We will! Oh, and I owe you one!”
Bryce then turned towards a festival food stall. “Off we go!” he said before pulling Leo off to it. While waiting in line. Leo turned to Bryce, looking quite puzzled. “Hey Bryce, if you were helping Cindy at the stall as a favor, why do you owe her for letting her clean up for you?”
Bryce let out a quick chuckle. “Because our matchmaker set us up on a date.” Leo looked even more confused. “Huh?” Bryce put his hand on his cheek. “Well, she bribed me out here to help her at the stall, and I’m guessing she texted you telling you I was here.”
Leo nods. “Yeah, she did.” “That may seem like all she’s done, but that stall has always been volunteer only, so no one gets paid, meaning Cindy volunteered just to lure me out here with a dress and lure you out here with me.”
Leo put their hand on their head. “That all makes sense. Seems I owe her one as well.” Bryce nods. “I’m sure she wouldn’t mind it if you got her a gift in the form of sweets, gatcha girl gaming cards, or by letting her make you clothes.” Leo chuckles.
“I’ll remember that. As soon as our night is over, I’ll get her something. For now, let’s pick something to eat and feed each other.” Bryce turns suddenly and looks embarrassed. He then does his cute routine of being embarrassed and sounding like he doesn't want that, only to give in a moment later.
The two got their dumplings and sat down on a bench together, and then, one by one, they’d feed each other small bites and chat in between the bites. It was a lovely night, and once the two of them finished eating, they leaned in close and looked up at the amazing starry night.
