Dunno if youll still see this but the mustache joke was a reference to modern teachers. Seems millennials and up don't understand the reference but mainly when I was in middle school teachers would stop teaching/talking if they noticed the class was being too rowdy and would wait for us to quiet down without any indication besides a blank-faced stare. Then he/she would tell us how long it took for us to calm down and would hold it against us/try to make us feel guilty about it. Rimuru saw the opportunity to make this corny joke and thus he put on his sensei(teacher) outift.
