nice, keep reacting to "old" animes. They are the root of everything :D

I am very happy this reaction is happening, this was my second anime ever, and still one of my favourites to date

PS: The dub is pretty good. I would definitely recommend trying out both versions and seeing which you like best.

The comment above mine does NOT contain spoilers and is probably good to read if you feel confused about the beginning of this episode.

Good choice. Lelouch is actually a Britannian. Does Britannia look like the type of country that would let inferior countries become a part of their culture? The questions lie in why has Lelouch been in Japan since he was a kid? And why he has such hate for Britannia? The answers appear quite obvious but it goes a little deeper than that. Can't wait for your reactions to these answers :) Anyway Suzaku (his childhood friend) is actually Japanese and is an Honorary Britannian. Honorary Britannians are Japanese folk who "converted" to Britannian culture and are in the army. They're still treated as lower class but they certainly have more rights than they were remaining as Japanese. This is full out war and a rebellion is on the horizon in the form of our MC who has gained a strange power. Whether you'll like Lelouch as a character is up for discussion and there won't be any hate if you don't really like him. He's been compared to the likes of Light Yagami of Death Note who was in a similar situation where they gained power and used it to change the world. Difference is Lelouch has more characterization and more reasons to like him and root for his cause. He may go too far sometimes but he certainly has a much more personal motivation that is more understandable than Light. Look forward to future reactions to this great show.

Yeah, the first episode is a bit much to take in, let it sink for a while 😁
I haven't got myself to watch the whole first season, maybe halfway in, so in a couple episodes in I'm gonna be just as confused as you are while watching, glad you like it^^

hey, i'm new here! don't worry about our reactions of you not liking the mc. not all mc's are supposed to be good people and that makes it all the more interesting. i, for one, very much like controversial mc's

This was my favorite show a long time ago. It can get overwhelming, so you might want to try the dubbed version. The protagonist called himself a different name "Lelouch vi Britannia" so he must not be Japanese. It's going to be fun watching you hating on all the snobby nobles like that 3rd prince.

A little suggestion, it's important to keep an open mind when watching this anime. There are different perspectives and ideals between the characters. If you dive into this picking sides it defeats the purpose of the show.
