CODE GEASS 1X02 REACTION!

CODE GEASS 1X02 REACTION!

Comments

Lol sure whatever.

DixicratJoe

That part I understand, that's why there's character development for him, just like every character in Code Geass, at the end none of them are the same person they were when they first started. The point I've been making this whole time is that he has good intentions, and his choices were not wrong, he just needed corrections and assistance to accomplish his goal.

Swan

That's just wishful thinking on his part. The Britannians in Japan would continue to step on the Japanese even if he's put in charge by some magical chance. The Japanese is not truly free if they cannot kick out the invaders. He is a frustrating character because he is arrogant, not because he is evil. There is no doubt that he is noble, but having good intentions alone is not good enough.

DixicratJoe

Which part of "Britannia cannot be defeated, therefore my only option is to make them better" did you not comprehend? There is always a limit to what one person can do, idiot or not, his effort was noble. Notice he never ever sacrifices anyone but himself, I cannot say the same for Lelouch despite my love for him. I'll apologies on his behalf for not shooting up the streets for a fundamental change in the system, because apparently there's only ever one correct answer to every problem.

Swan

War is not an excuse for massacring innocents. Even in wars, there are rules. If there are good Britannians, then it just proves that a few can't fundamentally change the system. It is unrealistic to believe that one Honorary Britannian can make a difference. No matter how talented he is or how hard he works, he will only be used by the current people in charge. Suzaku fits the role of a useful idiot for Britannia.

DixicratJoe

Whenever war happens, innocent people get hurt. Whether it is Britannian or Japanese. Not all Britannians are evil and their lives don't mean any less than the Japanese people. If you think bloodshed or revenge is the answer then perhaps self-righteous isn't a word you can use to accuse anyone. Lastly, Suzaku does what he does because he thinks Britannia cannot be defeated, rather than losing more lives in vain he chose another way, that's all there is to it. I'm being pretty fair here and if you don't agree then I don't see a point in responding any further.

Swan

It is idealistic, like a Jew fighting for Hitler hoping to rise up in the ranks and show other Jews they can "hold their heads up high." He is fighting for a nation that massacres innocent Japanese civilians hoping to benefiting Japanese, which is hypocritical. Even if he succeeds in becoming an equal to the Britannians, what about the rest of the Japanese people? How many of them can do the same? Suzaku is a frustrating character because he is stubborn and makes dumb choices for dumb reasons. He is self-righteous and looks down on the protagonist for using the "wrong" way, which is the mentality of many dictators.

DixicratJoe

Do you think he gets satisfaction out of going against his own kind, serving the country that destroyed his people? He sacrificed his own dignity to help the Japanese get theirs back by hoping to rise up in the ranks within Britannia, he wants to show everyone that even "Elevens" can hold their heads up high. That may be idealistic, but if you think that's bootlicking then we shouldn't be continuing this debate.

Swan

Regardless of what you think, Suzaku will be hated for a while for get into the protagonist's way while having no real concrete plans to achieve his own goals. He suffers from identity foreclosure. Being a boot-licker is not the same as being forced to make tough choices. That's just lazy writing. If you don't dislike some of the decisions Suzaku made then you are just a fanboy.

DixicratJoe

Pointless conversation. Can't go further without spoiling AND the world is only black and white to you when the whole show is about grey areas

Swan

Unfortunately the show proves you wrong. Suzaku is only good at being used. Maybe you should tell America that the colonists shouldn't have fought the British because they didn't like the system.

DixicratJoe

if you love Leoluch, you will love Light from Death Note :)

Andre

Don't worry, you're still not stupid :P You will get more background on Lelouch and his motives as the anime progresses 😉

Radoras

Careful not to spoil anything guys :p

Jesus

Suzaku is doing what he can to make a difference from within. In fact, his method is the only acceptable method to make major changes to national policies in real life. Surely you can't start a rebellion as you please because you don't like the system.

Swan

I will watch the show however I want. Suzaku only redeemed himself in the second season. He's a loyal dog to a warped justice just to move the plot along. Any logical person would realize that an honorary Britannian would never be allowed to be in a high position to make major changes to national policies.

DixicratJoe

If you hate Suzaku after watching the whole series, you aren't watching the show correctly. As a shadow protagonist, he's meant to be two sides of the same coin with Lelouch.

Swan

Get ready for Suzaku to be the most hated character in the show. Please don't watch the next episode on an empty stomach. It can be torturous.

DixicratJoe

There isn't supposed to be a good guy or a bad guy. This show is well made and in my opinion quite profound. You can root for whoever you want and you can hate whoever you want. There are no right or wrong answers and your feelings may very well flop to the other side every now and then. By the end, you should be left feeling like you better understand the human condition.

Jesse Gallimore

The vi part in Lelouch vi Britannia is just his middle name don't pay it to much attention. But it does means something, I won't say it here. In case you want to figure it out when they introduce the other members of the royal family.

Theloneous Washington

Britannia is basically Britain from back when they were colonizing the world. They are the English Empire. I'm glad you finally figured out (sort of) Lelouch's background. I've noticed that a lot of people assume that he is Japanese, which is understandable because it is very ambiguous but I don't think it was supposed to be intentionally ambiguous. Perhaps just poorly conveyed. P1, P5, those "weird names" as Tamaki put it are referring to chess pieces. P would stand for Pawn. So giving the P-squad orders is him moving his pawns.

Jesse Gallimore

Ji bunnnnnn wo!

Jesse Gallimore

I miss this opening sometimes.
