It doesn't bring something back to life after it is dead, that's why Elaine was trying to shove it down Ban's throat as soon as possible before he died. It's similar to how Elizabeth has powerful healing abilities but once someone is actually dead she can't do anything, like all the people that died at the end of season 1 and when Meliodas died. Healing isn't resurrection.
