hoped it was just some over-the-top manga fans bashing the anime-version, but...that fight almost was the lamest in the entire show in my opinion; just when I thought "yeah, so now Escanor is at his peak, now they really fight!", the fight was over with one hit...
and yeah, Estarossa is creepy; if what he did to Meliodas was out of "love" (maybe thinking to end his suffering from his immortality curse?), I don't want to know what he would do to someone he hates

@Slussh Meliodas and Escanor are constantly touted as the strongest characters in the entire series. It was pretty obvious that they would eventually fight, and that it would have to be crazy since both of them completely destroy their opponents in previous fights.

How was it hyped for years in the manga? There was almost zero clues that escanor meliodas would fight

Merlin looks like thet because thats how young she was when she used her magical skill ,"infinity", to seal herself from the passage of time, effectively stopping herself from aging.

The fight is notorious because of its animation quality, and how disappointing it was for the fans after it being hyped for years in the manga. The hits essentially had no impact, it felt like a little baby smacked you in the face and the scenes were poorly drawn. This happened because Studio Deen outsourced SDS to a new Korean studio who has almost never produced anything before after they found themselves too busy from the Konosuba movie. I'm a big fan of SDS which is why this is upsetting for me, that being said the story quality, the voice acting and the music are still top notched.
