Your reactions and dissection of the anime's story are otherwise great, but it's really hard to enjoy at times when you call everyone who's not 100% on Subaru's side a "cunt" or "bitch".

Not to mention how you switched from loving Emilia and hating Rem in the beginning, to now adoring Rem and rolling your eyes every time Emilia is on screen.

2022-08-05 18:24:34 +0000 UTCSure, if the villagers' release was still tied to first succeeding in the trial I would agree that they can't wait for Emilia to work through it, their families miss them after all. Fortunately, Subaru was able to convince Garfiel & the others to let them go while Emilia keeps working on it, so everyone gets what they want...like how Subaru found a way to help without overshadowing her; he definitely grew more sensible to stuff like that since season 1. and yes, she absolutely needs to grow through the challenge, both to work through her past & maybe build some confidence along the way

2020-08-10 09:22:46 +0000 UTCYeah I get your perspective. Though I still think subaru needs to “step up”. Emilia isn’t capable of doing everything on her own just like he isn’t. I get that she needs to earn her right to be a candidate in a sense, but if she really isn’t capable of doing it, I think subaru should step up. There’s no reason to make these people stay longer in this prison than necessary. I hope she can do it though because she does need to work through this trauma to grow as a person.

2020-08-09 22:01:24 +0000 UTCHm, I think I disagree with Subaru just "having to step up", for 2 reasons: 1) tactical: Emilia is competing for the Throne & Subaru wants her to get it, so she has to earn some credit for the competition; doesn't really look competent when she needs everything to be done by her No. 1, no matter how nice he is 2) distrust: yes, it Seems like Echidna wants him to do the trial - which is exactly why I think it may be better if he doesn't do what she wants him to, at least not until we know her Endgame...might be playing right into whatever plan she has by charging in & taking the route she laid out for him... after hearing Roswaal confess he planned it all, I think Subaru can't just cut ties with him...but he should try to get out of his influence as soon as he can, who knows if Subaru (or Emilia) aren't needed at some point of his masterplan anymore and get discarded?

If he really only wanted Emilia and Subaru to claim the credit and make a name for themselves he would've at least told them about the attacks and set up plans before taking a step back, if there isn't more to it than that then he's just deranged
