You probably didn't notice the resident evil references like oroboros, but the reason for that is because devil may cry was supposed to be resident evil, it was a concept but became it's own thing.

2025-04-21 07:58:52 +0000 UTCOkay, so... first of all, I kinda liked the series after finding out it was supposed to be completely different from the games. It was solid I think but still needed that spark. To the characters: Dante is a bit too weak compared to his game self. In the games he is much goofier and stronger. He also only gets the Demon Sword Sparda and unlocks it's power before defeating Mundus in the games. He also has a large arsenal of weapons in the games, which I missed in this one. To Lady/Mary: Her character is done dirty in this in my opinion. She is the main heroine of the third entry in the games and has a specific agenda, while also being hostile to all demons. In the 3rd entry, her father and Vergil try to open the demon realm to regain Sparda's power. Lady is hunting her father for killing her mother and Dante is hunting Vergil cause it's his brother. She is way more badass and has an actual personal motivation in the games and character developement. Which I missed in this series, especially in the last episode after she saw what the VP did and how he talked, she still went against Dante. To Vergil/Dante's Brother: I don't know how they'll handle him in the series. But in the games, he was brainwashed by Mundus after losing to Dante in the 3rd entry and falling into the Demon Realm/Makai. He was called Nelo Angelo, so that might be a name to remember. Also, Vergil is fucking hot and cool. Besides all that... It was a good run. Too much CGI for me, but I watched Overlord as well so... 6.5/10? Needs work but the basics are pretty good. My wish would be if you could watch the first DMC anime and compare the two to another.
