“I’m… almost certain the dial isn’t supposed to go that high.”
Amy was quite right, not that it mattered much. Vanessa had spent so much time bastardizing her greatest invention yet that things like “safety limits” or “physical possibilities” didn’t really matter much to her; going into full mad scientist mode had its perks and advantages, chief among which was the ability to disregard anything that didn’t help the panther accomplish her goals. Hence why what had once been a purely utilitarian growth ray meant to make the most out of meal portions had been turned into a room-sized mechanical monstrosity attached to a payload delivery mechanism that looked more like some cartoonish laser beam than anything remotely realistic.
Really, the table with straps on it was just for show at that point.
“Nonsense, it goes as high as it can go,” Vanessa replied, dismissively waving one hand while the other kept turning the dial past the point where the internal spring mechanism broke, “besides, you wanted to see what it was like being big, so why shouldn’t it go that high?”
“I-It’s reversible, right?” the mouse mumbled after a short moment of silence, her cheeks already burning red, “You can turn me back whenever you want, right?”
“Yeah, sure, why not, now hold still.”
Vanessa spoke too quickly for Amy to react, though the latter did get a squeak out when she heard the panther slam down on the control panel, deploying several metallic restraints designed to keep the “test subject” on the table perfectly still: three per limb and one on her head, tight and unflinching and certainly claustrophobic, though less so once Amy realized that they were made out of tightly-packed tinfoil rather than solid metal, at which point her face contorted into a glare as she stared her partner down.
Sadly, it was too late for Amy, as the momentary distraction was all that Vanessa needed to finish preparing the firing sequence; just as the mouse was getting ready to slide off the table after removing the last bit of tinfoil off of her, the colossal assembly pointed directly at her began glowing brightly, the air filled with an intense buzzing as the rest of lights in the lab flickered on and off. Somewhere in the distance, a group of government workers was staring in confusion at the readings on the power grid, wondering where that massive drain was coming from, and right after that, Amy was blinded.
The flash of light lasted for only a split-second, but it was enough to leave both of the mouse’s eyes feeling like they’d been staring directly at the sun. It was enough to distract her from Vanessa’s cackling, their victorious laughing interspaced with declarations of intellectual superiority that wouldn’t be out of place in a B-movie; as for Amy, as soon as she was done rubbing the blind spots from her vision, she immediately slid off onto the ground, intent on giving the panther a piece of her mind… and it wasn’t until the two of them were right next to one another that the mouse realized she had to look down to face her partner, rather than the other way around.
The smug look stamped on Vanessa’s face went entirely unnoticed by a very panicked Amy, whose first reaction was to raise her arms and stare at them, as if that would answer anything at all. They didn’t look any different, though the perspective around her certainly did; it was odd, seeing the room from that high up, especially since her eyes seemed to be floating further upwards with each passing second. It took Amy a few moments to realize what this meant, at which point she yelped, jumped backwards, and promptly lost her balance, collapsing onto the selfsame table she’d been on just moments prior… and effortlessly smashing it now that her back alone was bigger than it was. As soon as this became clear, Amy was left so flustered that the only sounds coming out of her mouth were individual letters, if that much; there were just so many things she wanted to say that they all crammed together, clogging her throat and leaving the poor thing unable to think straight as she attempted to come to terms with a growing, increasingly gigantic body.
In the middle of all this, Vanessa could not be happier. Not only had her experiment bore fruit, but the ridiculous contraption she designed had actually worked, providing a much-needed distraction from the knowledge of how much money it cost. Thankfully, such paltry concerns were no longer relevant, because if that thing functioned the way it was supposed to, the last thing either herself or Amy would have to worry about would be money, not when they had such a beautiful journey ahead of themselves. For, unbeknownst to the not-so-little mouse, Vanessa had… undersold, for lack of a better word, just what the machine could do; surely, Amy was beginning to realize that when their better half said the growth ray would leave them “a big bigger”, they were operating on an entirely different meaning of what “a bit” meant, because it took less than a minute for the budding giantess’ head and paws to be touching opposite walls.
The panther, meanwhile, had already climbed onto her partner’s growing form, wanting to be as close as possible to Amy’s head before things truly got out of hand; and they would, because not only were the effects not at all reversible (a little white lie), but they weren’t made to stop either. Just as long as there was room to grow into, then Amy would keep growing, because the growth ray didn’t so much make her larger as alter the very metaphysical definition of what her body was supposed to be like… or, at least, that’s what Vanessa assumed it did; most of the engineering work was done while experiencing severe sleep deprivation.
The biggest change, however, came not when the lab was thoroughly wrecked, nor when Amy’s back began to curve as the amount of empty space around her rapidly diminished, not even when the whole structure of their house started to rumble and quake as it was torn apart from the inside out. No, the biggest change came from Amy herself, who had apparently gotten through the initial shock and came out the other end with a newfound appreciation for her new state of being… at least if that smile on her face was any indication.
“Vanessa, I…” she mumbled, evidently lost for words, “What did you…”
“Hush,” Vanessa replied, finishing her climbing expedition and raising a hand to her partner’s mouth; it looked pathetically tiny, just as it should, “just enjoy it, love.”
Simple words, and a simple reaction: a smile. Amy closed her eyes, or at least let them close on their own, their body tensing up in preparation for the first big hurdle: the two’s house. The giantess would be lying if they said they’d never fantasized about breaking free from it; hell, it was Amy who suggested Vanessa construct the growth ray in the first place, after all. The mouse simply never expected to be able to actually do it, hence why, now that the reality of it began to sink in, she couldn’t muster up the energy or willpower to be worried about it. Mortgages, insurance, injury or damage, nothing mattered compared to the simple fact that, a few seconds from then, she would be outgrowing her home, sending chunks of it flying into the atmosphere as she emerged from her proverbial cocoon, a beautiful butterfly for the world to admire. All she needed to do was… stretch her arms. Cut loose. Set herself free.
So she did.
The rest of the neighborhood, by that point already wondering what all the noise was about, was then treated to the sight of one of their neighbour’s houses exploding; one moment it was there, the next it had been transformed into an expanding sphere of debris, dust and whatever random chunks weren’t obliterated when Amy’s growth spurt brought her from merely room-sized to big enough that she occupied the couple’s entire property: her head in the backyard, her paws on the road, and her tail firmly wrapped around one of her legs as the giantess tried her best not to lose control of herself while in public.
Not that such concerns would remain present in her mind for much longer. Whether it be because it was a dream come true or because the very act of growing was pleasurable in and of itself, Amy found it increasingly difficult to say no to that voice in her head telling her to cut loose and indulge a little… that, and Vanessa’s voice, which was doing much of the same, except in far lewder terms. There was still a tiny part of Amy that called for moderation, but as her paws crossed the street and barrelled into the house opposite where her own had once stood, listening to it felt more and more pointless.
Why should she, when the alternative was the experience rapturous pleasure unlike any other time in her life? Why call for moderation when to do so would be to deny herself the opportunity to not just feel like a goddess, but look like one as well? The mouse was already reaching the point where the neighborhood couldn’t contain her anymore; whatever Vanessa had done with the machine, it was clearly capable of far more than Amy had been sold on, but if the latter had half a mind to do anything, it was to ask for more, not less. More, always more, in escalating and larger quantities, until each one of her miniature growth spurts, the ones that added up to a proper size boost, would dwarf the one that came right before.
Exponential was the word of the game, one that Amy would’ve loved to scream at the top of her voice if she weren’t already busy using her throat to moan so loudly that she was nearly scratched hoarse from the strain. She couldn’t help it, the sensations were far too powerful for her to bottle them up, especially with her lovely panther right there next to her; Vanessa might be positively miniscule compared to her own, colossal size, enough that the mouse had some trouble spotting her without twisting her neck and swivelling her eyes as far down as they went, but the giantess could feel them nonetheless: their warm presence, their arms wrapped around as much of her neck as they could muster, the words they spoke, so indecent that Amy was left blushing more brightly than the sun shone… it was a dream scenario come to life, and she couldn’t ask for things to have gone any differently.
Not that they could have, but that was beside the point. From the day that the mouse mentioned she had an interest in experimenting with larger sizes, her fate was sealed, and now that her body had already taken up multiple properties around her own, and was well on its way to flattening that area of the suburbs entirely, all Amy could do was wonder on how big she’d get before the transformative process stopped… assuming it even did. Surely there had to be a cap and she couldn’t just keep growing, but on the other hand, Vanessa did have a tendency to produce impossible results from even more ludicrous premises, so it wasn’t out of the realm of possibility for the panther to have developed an eternal growth ray. The thought… Amy knew that it should scare her, that the notion of becoming bigger forever should have been something her mind used as a brake, as a means of stopping herself from going along with it, but it didn’t, and it certainly wasn’t; rather, the mental image of her body, as it was, magnified in size a hundred, thousandfold, again and again until the very planet itself was naught but a speck of dust, pushed so many buttons that her legs began rubbing against one another, the mouse’s physical form acting on its own accord to try and sate some of the urges it was beset by. It was all she could do to keep her hands away from between her legs; no need to go that far… yet, at least.
Then again, why not? It felt that whenever she blinked, Amy gained dozens of feet in every direction, that all it took was a momentary distraction for her to become so much larger than she had been an instant before that it was a wonder she hadn’t become city-sized yet; she was well on the way to those sizes, to be fair, which only served to egg her on further… that, and having Vanessa climb to near her ears so they could whisper a series of words into them that only made the giantess’ body quiver even harder than before.
To the panther, things couldn’t have gone better. With no guarantee that the machine would even work to begin with, that she was now riding atop a growing mouse of dimensions ever more unstable with every passing moment was a testament to her brilliance, not to mention the unending horny energies that fueled her every waking moment. Even better was how she had no clue how long it would take for things to settle down; sure, she designed the machine to be far more potent than Amy expected, but was she also expected to know just how powerful it was? The damned thing was probably half-thaumaturgy for all the panther knew, with her only concern being to ride out the storm and be there for when the clouds parted and the giantess’ form was fully revealed.
That said, it was getting harder to communicate with Amy the more the mouse grew into the local landscape, though to some degree this was part of the charm. To be so tiny that one barely qualified as even being there at all, while their better half burgeoned all over the place and flattened the planet around them as their body bulged outwards at an exponentially faster rate? That was the dream as far as Vanessa was concerned… and a dream that Amy still couldn’t quite believe she was actually going through. When her perspective went from being in a room, to becoming house-sized, to wiping out her neighborhood and then thoroughly paving over an entire city all in the space of a couple of minutes, without her even having the opportunity to try and get up (not that, again, she’d be capable of doing so), parsing through the sensory overload was not something she was capable of. That her body refused to give her a moment to spare didn’t help either; by the time the mouse got her thoughts in order, her frame had grown so much that she needed to start all over, as the bigger she became, the more her senses kept battering her down with a relentless onslaught of overwhelming, raw pleasure.
It didn’t stop. It was as if what she was feeling was stored in some kind of memory bank the mouse couldn’t access, a backlog that made sure what whatever was going through her pleasure centers was actually what she’d gone through several seconds earlier, with all the extra material piling on and on the bigger she became; Amy had become unable to fully understand what her body was trying to tell her, and would soon become a slave to its own functions, and it was precisely because of this that she could not care less. It was a wide-open smile that adorned her lips, not a grimace, a pair of practically shining eyes lighting up her face rather than dour ones; how could she ask for anything else other than what she had right there and then? Why even begin to desire anything other than the perpetual growth, the one where her head broke through multiple cloud layers and approached the upper edges of the atmosphere while she was still lying down? Why ask for anything else when her form had already become so titanic that the grip of gravity on her had vanished, and indeed it was she who pulled her homeworld to her rather than the other way around.
It was hard to tell when the flip occurred, but at some point, Amy was no longer lying down on anything, but rather floating in what could charitably be described as an orbit around the sun. Normally, this would’ve been enough to alert her that something had fundamentally changed about her, but that would take time that could be used to experience divinity, precious time that could instead be devoted to moaning for more and begging for Vanessa to give her a second dose that could never take place. No thoughts were spared for how she could even produce sound in space, nor how she was alive in a vacuum; not even Vanessa, whose unlikely survival mirrored that of her plus-sized lover, could bring herself to care about such trivial matters, because now that Amy had freed herself from the bounds of spherical habitation, the mouse could finally cut loose properly.
The universe was, after all, mostly empty space, and being empty space, it stood to reason that it had to be filled. Now, why exactly nothing had done this before, neither Amy nor Vanessa really knew, but as the former’s body began to expand in every direction at a rate that seemed to multiply by itself at every step of the way, both of them figured that the giantess might as well give it a shot. Did it matter that she was breaking the speed limit of light? Hardly; just as long as the stars around them began to vanish thanks to how gargantuan Amy had become, or how rapidly she was growing, then they had everything they could ever need. Sure, being galactic-sized would make it slightly difficult to go to work in the morning, but did it matter?
They had so much empty room to grow into.
