I'm glad you gave it another shot. The thing I love about your reaction is you can try and work out what's going on, not saying your right or wrong but your theories always make sense.

The first 3 episode (except the headless Mami) is literally just bait for the rest of the story. The witches still will appear here and there but from this point on the focus is on the story. I also love how you sus and hate Kyuubei (cat).
