Finally caught up on this series. Still to catch up everything else. Your quick back-track after ogling high-school legs. Bwahahah. If it is any consolation, the actor is not a minor. The thing about the step-brother and uni is just stupid pride. How would it look if the "outside child" got in, and the legitimate one does not. Despite how much I love all the social commentary in this show, my favourite thing is that they don't redeem Ritsu. I feel like a lot of shows will give you some sort of extenuating circumstances or childhood trauma or something as a reason for why things go wrong. And yes, Ritsu has childhood trauma, but he screwed up the relationship being young and stupid. And that feels real. Sometimes half-decent people do horrible things.
