Omg i know the feels right??? =_= I hate it when Meng Yao is right >~< and the people who got entangled in a migraine-inducing argument with him will only end up with nothing but doubt and fluctuating emotions (gaslighting much?) The thing is, if you are someone with a shaky resolve, you'll be eaten alive by Meng Yao -- LAN XICHEN, JIANG WANYIN I'm looking at you two ☠️☠️☠️ Meng Yao did mention a lot of stuff that hit where it hurts , he is good at playing victim and reversing things but the whole point of the argument all boils down to the choices he made and his motivations. I am not buying his shit of having no choice in all the matters he encountered 🤯😠😤 To begin with he didn't have to suck up and murder many people just to be accepted ,again, in the Jin clan nor to be recognized by the unworthy and disgusting Jin Guangshan. He and his mom were abandoned and rejected again and again, so what's the point. If he wanted a good life and a good position if not respectable, he already had it with the Nie's. All the love and care and recognition he so craved was already given to him by the Nie brothers. EHEM!!! I am sailing the MingjueXYao ship and no one can stop me *^*//

Ugh I don’t know if it’s because I just read this part in the book recently but this episode made me mad all over again!! That’s the interesting thing about Meng Yaos character that I feel like in the most frustrating way encapsulates the theme of this whole series “what makes a ‘good’ person?” becoz it’s true Meng Yao was treated badly for a very long time by people society deemed to be good (as far as I’m concerned the entire Jin clan minus Jin ling and his daddy can take a long walk of a short cliff) and he did suffer for it even though it seemed as if he was just minding his business and even in the last argument with Nie Mingjue he brought up some valid points about who determines who deserves to die and you find yourself nodding and agreeing with this Psycho coz he’s right about that. I think in the book during that last argument Nie Mingjue actually agrees with him and says fine your right let’s kill ourselves to repent for these deaths that they have taken and it’s at that point Meng Yao gets nasty and his true self comes out so in reality he didn’t even use that argument because he actually believed it he used it because he knew it would get to Nie specifically. But you know what he didn’t answer? Nie Mingjues issue was and always has been that every time Meng Yao is caught doing shit a whole host of previous lies and manipulation always seems to follow it and it seems solely caused in order for him to get ahead but he’s still playing victim acting like it was out of his control. What else was he supposed to do? There is always a justification. And it just makes you question every action he’s ever made, even that first scene with the assholes in the cave, did Nie just happen to stumble on Yao or did Yao plant himself there to bait Nie into hearing them talk badly about him coz he got promoted after that and that’s what drives Nie even more crazy coz while he is calling him out on his suspicions, coz nobody else has seen Yaos crazy in person it makes him look crazier especially when to everyone else it seems as if Yao is devoting almost all his time to play the ‘cleansing’ song to help Nie. So frustrating but really good storytelling. Also the scene where Yao is talking to someone in the shadows I’m pretty sure that was a Wei memory coz that was one of the banquets after he had just gotten back but someone correct me if I’m wrong. You’re almost at the end sort of bittersweet really I’ve had so much fun with these reactions. I think you would actually really enjoy the books and maybe could do some reading content or a book review or it on the channel

When they show Meng Yao talking to someone in the past, right before that is NMJ (Scarlet Peak Master) saying "that was the same general who told me he saw" or something similar to that effect. So basically, you're seeing what the General that Meng Yao killed, told the Scarlet Peak Master he saw. The implication being that Meng Yao was doing something illicit (I think it can be inferred at this point that he was plotting with Xue Yang or the Wens) and that was part of the reason he killed the General, to silence him. So it wasn't what NMJ saw, but what he had been told because the General did manage to tell him before Meng Yao killed him and in NMJ's conversation with Meng Yao, it was visually showing what was described, which is definitely confusing whenit comes up in the middle of a flashback that is only supposed to be from NMJ's point of view. Hope that clears it up.
