2023-10-31 18:49:42 +0000 UTCFun fact... Wei Ying and Lan Zhan did 3 bows in the ancestral hall... That has a deep meaning in Chinese culture. You do 3 bows in Chinese weddings!!! We all died from this detail the live action sneaked in..there is more context to what Wei Wuxian was thinking during the bows in the novel☺️

2023-10-30 14:06:05 +0000 UTCIt's been awhile since ep 15 but if you go back to that, you'll see that one of that last things that Madam Yu says to Wuxian is 'Even if you die, you keep Jiang Cheng safe' and Uncle Jiang last words are to keep his siblings safe as well. And then in ep 20, when Wuxian is back from the burial mounds, what he says to their ancestral tablets is that he kept them safe. Wuxian loved his brother but he also had the weight of Cheng's dead parents telling him that he had to do absolutely everything to keep Cheng safe. I honestly didn't hate Jiang Cheng until this episode. I didn't always like what he did but i understood where he was coming from. But here, Wuxian literally passes out in front of him because he's exhausted from saving all their lives earlier in the day and Jiang Cheng is still attacking him and his relationship with Lan Zhan. On your comment that everything that ruins Wuxian's reputation kind of stems from losing his core, it does. But also, they would not have won the war without Wuxian's alternative cultivation. The world turned on him because they coveted and feared his power.

I love the subtle detail of the 3 bows in the ancestral hall (one to the heavens and the earth, one to the ancestors and one to each other) which is what couples do in traditional Chinese marriage ceremonies. Oh but this doesn't make sense obviously because they are FRIENDS👀👀 ps: yes, the novel is a must read. I'm not a big fan of the extras tho...😂 but the main novel is 100% worth it
